Posted: 8/24/04 at 5:49pmThis movie was just on HBO...does anyone else think this movie has the cutest plot and ending. It would make a great Broadway show in my opinion. Im studying to be a Director and Producer and my dream shows are The Wizard of Oz and The Nightmare Before Christmas. I know some people dont like Wicked but u must admit it's design team is great. Id love to see this show done with costumes and sets by Susan Hilferty and Eugene Lee, done in a big/dark theatre like The Minskoff or the Gershwin. Everyone as far as I know loves the songs. Anyway yeah, I just watched it and I thought id share. Anyone else love that movie/songs?

If I had a nickel...
I thought the film was ok, but I wasn't thrilled. A couple of good songs, but not that memorable ("What's This?" is the only melody I can recall). Mostly, it was just the gorgeous design of the film that kept me awake.

To me he lost the title of god with the awful sleepy hollow and the horrible planet of apes.
I love Nightmare, and I want to remark the work of the composer danny elfman!

Yes! With so many Christmasy musicals, I'd love to see an extremely Haloween musical, and i love the movie too!
Big Fish--Greatest ever!!~!!
Love the icon with the pixar birds, whoever just posted...(to lazy to go back and see)

Posted: 8/24/04 at 6:02pmI've always been a fan of Danny Elfman's scores, but I found Nightmare to be really disappointing. Not as disappointing as Big Fish, though. That was such a dull flat film. Like Sleepy Hollow, it had one level and barely wavered from it.

Posted: 8/24/04 at 6:29pmI LOVE The Nightmare Before Christmas. I'd love to see it on stage with Danny Elfman writing some more songs for it.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I think it would transfer well on stage... if the creative team understands the story enough and the elements it needs.
The music... ohmmmmmmyyyyyyyggggggg.
I'm drooling. :)

Its been discussed before, but the score would have to be expanded. This does have great potential, IMO. With the right cast and book, this could be a big hit.
Just a thought about casting, how about the voice of Audrey II for Oogey Boogey? If he is animatronic, that'd be great, if he's real, thats fine too, you could have him in the suit or someone else, doesnt really matter.

Yeah, I always thought of Oogie Boogie being played by that guy. I always pictured his song taking place under blacklights. It would be much easier to design the costume and make him look scarier if all you see was his glowing eyes and the outline of his suit (they make that paint that glows in black lights)...and instead of those bats and creatures singing, have 3 girls (ex: Little Shop, Caroline, Hairspray) also in cool glowing costumes singing backup. And having all those gambling machines glowing different colors in the dark...with mucho mucho dry ice.
I know, I was thinking about all this today while watching it. I cant wait to be a director lol!
