I've known that they were going to announce the final show in their season on Thanksgiving, and that it would be a 'broadway blockbuster' so i had a feeling it would be Les Miz. But when I was looking at the Hairspray playbill online on page 7, you can tell the type of print is the same type as Les Miz and that the colors are the french colors. Why are they trying to cover it up even though it is so obvious???
heres the link

Because, if I'm not mistaken, they can't legally announce it yet.

I'm excited to see this show in a new way. I love this show and I feel like people always lump it in with Phantom and Miss Saigon when they talk about shows that rely on big spectacle. A lot of the story is told on a relatively bare stage with the suggestion of a factory, gated house, church, or whatever.
And yes, the story is told with broad, sweeping strokes, but how else do you fit 1200 pages into 3 hours? And the music is amazing.

Merry-Go-Round Playhouse has Les Miz, The Producers, and All Shook Up in its season, which I find pretty amazing.

Though I am not at all a fan of Ron Wisniski (Thenardier), I will see the production just to see Fred Inkley as Valjean - what a talented, lovely performer, and great in the role!

Posted: 10/18/07 at 9:34amI noticed a few familiar faces from the 3nt in the cast. It sounds like this is going to be a good production.

Posted: 10/27/07 at 12:58amLooks like they gave Javert a natural afro-texture for his hair. Not something I would have expected to see (not that it's bad).

She does mention Enjolras.
"Charles Hagerty is effective as the object of her affection, the student rebel Marius, as is Charlie Brady as his cohort Enjolras."
Friends tell me Ivan and others turned down the role at NSMT.
As for no mention of Fantine... I guess with a word limit you have to pick and choose what to talk about.. I guess this critic had a lot to say about what needs work. Not what does't.
I think I am seeing this in a few weeks... though I am not sure if I want to at this point.

Posted: 10/28/07 at 8:21amIt looks like a great production; it has interesting staging. If Joanne is as good as her review, hopfully we will see her in the Broadway revival soon(if it last that long). She sounds pretty good in her clip on the video.

Posted: 10/28/07 at 11:23amI work concessions at NSMT, so I hear all of Act 1 and part of Act 2 (usually to a bit after 'A Little Fall of Rain'). I haven't actually seen the show yet, but for the most part, it sounds great. The Eponine is fantastic, as are Madame T and Young Cosette (but I've known the little one since she was five, so I'm a bit biased). Based solely on what it sounds like, I'd definitely say go see it.
