I just got back from NYC and I had so much fun! I saw four shows and they were all very good.
4/11- Sweeney Todd- Full cast.
This was my favorite show of the four. It was just stunning. Patti LuPone is phenomenal and her performance is definitely tony worthy. Michael Ceveris was very chilling and he was a great presence on stage. My favorite performance was of Manuel Feliciano. His choices in Tobias are remarkable and I can't say enough to praise the guy. He better win the Tony!!
Stage door: Everyone was nice and signed and took photos. The stage door manager was soooo funny and I love her!!!
4/12 matinee- Lestat. Full cast.
I went in with my doubts. I had seen Dracula and Dance of the Vampires so I had my reservations on vampire musicals. To my surprise, it was actually very entertaining. The score was beautiful, but the lyrics were truely bad. Carolee was the standout in my opinion and her Crimson Kiss was jaw dropping. The sets, and lighting were cool and should get nominated. The only part I EXTREMELY hated was the part of Magnus..what the ****..please change his costume...he's not supposed to be a buddhist monk and the actor was very bad also.
Stage door:This was my favorite stage door experience. They have the fans in a line and the actors just work their way down the barricade. Carolee was soo nice and so was Hugh. Allison's whole school group was there so she didnt take alot of time to sign but its understandable considering her posse was present.
4/12 evening-Wedding Singer- Full cast.
This show was pure fun. The 80's humor did get tiring after awhile but it was funny nonetheless. The score was sooo good and I went out singing Its Your Wedding Day..Get out of the dumpster..and Single. Amy and Felicia were hysterical and Stephen was perfectly cast. Ms Benanti was ok. Her voice is nice but she just didnt seem into it at all. I also LOVED Kevin Cahoon and Rita Garder. Rita was SOOOO FUNNY.
Stage Door: Everyone signed..Lea Delaria and Jesse Tyler Ferguson were there. They were really humorous and loved the show.
4/13-Drowsy Chaperone-Full cast.
This was my second favorite show. Sat next to Casey Nicolaw!! Bob Martin is possibly the funniest man alive. His opening monologue is down right genius. Beth Leavel was also a standout. Her song was very good. The only person I did not like was Troy Britton Johnson. He over acted too much and got annoying. Sutton was fun..not tony worthy..but the usual Sutton flare. Set was genius and was full of surprises. I love the cane bit with Beth.
Stage door: SOO crazy. They need baricades. Georgina left throught another exit so I missed her. Everyone signed and took photos.
Tony Nomination Predictions:
Sweeney Todd-Revial,Best Actor, Actess, Featured Actor, Lighting, Direction, Orchestrations
Lestat- Carolee, Sets, Lighting, Orchestrations, Score
Wedding Singer- Best Musical,Featured Actress, Book, Score, Choreography
Chaperone- Best Musical, Actor, Featured Actor and Actress, Score, Book, Lighting, Sets, Choreography, Direction
Other stuff: On my way back from Chaperone I waited at the Caine Mutiny stage door and got David Schwimmer's autograph..he took alot of time and was gracious with everyone. Also, the Julia Roberts thing is a mess!! dont even try to get her auto.
Sorry for the length.
Glad you had a great time! Thanks for the reviews and stage door summations.

What do you think the chances of Felicia either getting nominated or winning for best supporting?

Who would get the featured actor nomination for Drowsy Chaperone?
Glad you had a great time! And especially glad you liked Lestat and Sweeney. =) But then how could you not love Sweeney.
Stupid little nit-picks, if you're interested. It's Manoel Felciano, and I think you mean Marius, not Magnus. ??Maybe? You can change it if you like.

i thought danny burnstein would get a featured actor nom
I was in NYC April 12-17 and agree with you on three shows...especially Sweeney Todd.
I saw Sweeney on the 12th at the matinee with the full cast and was thrilled to be there. A cell phone went of twice. The first time it happened I thought Michael Cerveris was going to jump into the audience and strangle someone. The phone kept ringing and he kept glaring. Finally....Patti LuPone snapped "well answer it !". It went off again a few minutes later. I saw the two owners of the phone at intermission. They were reading the directions trying to figure out how to power off the damn thing. They must have figured it out because the phone did not ring during act two. Cell phone ringing aside - it was one of the best shows I have ever seen on Bway.
2nd favorite show - The Drowsy Chaperone was an unexpected surprise. Original and extremely funny. I think it will be going head to head with Jersey Boys for best musical.
Again I agree with Dylanjackson- The Wedding Singer was a lot of fun.
The only show I disagree with is Lestat. I thought it was a pop song infused mess.
I didn't want to see The Color Purple but was glad I did. It was very good as was Grey Gardens.
Tarzan was a bore. I am not sure who Disney is aiming this show at. It is a love story - especially the second act. I saw the show on a Friday night and a few little kids were sleeping at curtain call.
