i hate these and yet i am asking for advice on which shows i should see.
i have two show slots available...and four shows to select from.
slot one: mary poppins/hairspray
slot two: the pirate queen/legally blonde.
help.
Hmmm...Hairspray and Mary Poppins are both good shows for slot 1. Hairspray is fun and energetic while Mary Poppins is magical and enchanting.
For slot 2, I'd say Legally Blonde.
Have you seen all these shows already, because if not how could you hate them? Have to take a family member?
Can't help you with slot two, but slot one, I vote Hairspray. Far from my favorite, but way more fun.
I think he was saying he hates these kinds of threads, not the shows.
I think you should choose some better shows...

Slot 1: Mary Poppins (Hairspray the movie is coming out next month and it's going to be on Broadway longer than Mary Poppins anyway. So you have a lot of time to see that.)
Slot 2: Legally Blonde. It's good and fun. The Pirate Queen is not.
The Pirate Queen is bad and fun.
Oh, he hates these threads? Oops!
haha. my bad. i meant i hate these threads.
and of course i am seeing better shows: spring awakening, jersey boys, a chorus line, and rent.
i would rather see a dark serious piece than a light silly one, so my choices naturally go to mary poppins and the pirate queen but then i hear how good hairspray and legally blonde are...and i turn to you guys.

I always say see the original cast if possible, which means Mary Poppins over Hairspray. Haven't seen either of the other two.
Haven't seen them but I would pick Mary Poppins and Legally Blonde. Hairspray can be seen on tour, I at least always prefer the original cast of a show, and Legally Blonde seems to a safer option. But I second a previous poster, what about plays? Or even other musicals? Why limit the last two slots to those four choices?

Wow, you know 're considering some fluffy shows when Poppins is one of the darker ones LOL!!!
I heard Marry Poppins and Legally Blonde Sucked!!!! I was there last week and saw Hairspray wich was great and then Spring Awakening .... which blew my mind. I HIGHLY reccomend SPRING AWAKENING!

well i dont know much about the show, but i assume it is darker than hairspray. and i didnt say i was only choosing dark pieces, that is just what appeals to me.
as for plays - is it bad that i dont care to see any of them? haha. its my first trip to broadway and im being selfish by choosing only musicals.
other shows? well if you look at my other post, i am seeing spring awakening, jersey boys, rent, and a chorus line. those are some good ones. if company and 110 were there in august this thread wouldn't be necessary.

Have you seen Grey Gardens? It's pretty dark for a musical. And very good.
id say Hairspray and The Pirate Queen
but i doubt (sadly) that The Pirate Queen will be open in August, so probably Legally Blonde in its place
but i also reccomend Grey Gardens :)
not sure about 1 but definitely blonde for the 2nd spot, just keep in mind that its over the top but meant to be that way.
I saw LEGALLY BLONDE expecting to be entertained by a funny musical. It wasn't entertaining or funny and the score is poor. Do yourself a favor and see the "darkish" GREY GARDENS. It is great theatre.
hairspray, probably legally blonde for the second slot, because i heard pirate queen is horrible!!!!
