NY weekend + Ave Q comparisons

NY weekend + Ave Q comparisons

NY weekend + Ave Q comparisons#1

Have already posted that I did not enjoy Billy Elliott. Mary Poppins was fun but nothing to go into detail about. South Pacific already has raves so no need for another one.
AVE Q - saw it mainly to compare it to the tour. In my humble opinion, I have to revise some comments I previously made on the tour. Maybe I saw it on an off night, even so Rob McClure is head and shoulders over Howie Michel Smith on Broadway. Smith really only creates a real character for Rod, Princeton seems an afterthought. Miss C. C. Romano is also a one character performer. She does well with Lucy but does not convince as the sweet, lovable Lucy and almost ruines the lovely "Fine Fine Line" doing it like a pop number for a CD rather than part of the show. Given a choice, I would definitely recommend the tour over the Broadway show. Not that Broadway is bad, I simply think the tour is better. Both are extremely funny and basically enjoyable.

the cast has changed a bit!

Matt Schrieber and Carey Anderson are both leaps and bounds better than Christy Romano and Christian Anderson, in my opinion.

Howie is fine.

I was NOT a fan of the current Gary Coleman. Thought she was the weakest link...

I'm confused, I thought you referred to the leads in the tour as divas fighting for attention with performances so over the top likened to a runaway train. How can that same show be preferrable over the Broadway production?

That was my first impression, but having seen the Broadway version, I do prefer the tour. I said that perhaps I saw the tour on an off night, but in comparison to the Broadway version, the tour is better. Isn't a female allowed to change her mind?
Please don't let that last question lead to rantings on this thread.

I still strongly disagree.

the Broadway production is much better... (especially if it's Matt Schreiber and Carey Anderson in it)

Then you must be really torn...she's in the tour right now.
