Posted: 11/29/07 at 6:57pmOkay thanks. This is my first time riding a Greyhound, and I'll be riding it all the way back to Minneapolis (32 hours! YEAH!) :-P Any precautions or advice as to how early I should get there for an 11:15 PM bus out of NYC? I was thinking of seeing Little Mermaid that night because it starts at 6:30 PM and I thought it should be out and give me enough time to still catch the bus, right?

I don't know when you are coming, but you should have looked into flying Midwest Airlines because the lowest round-trip fare between Minneapolis-St. Paul and NYC LaGuardia is $188.
Sure beats 32 hours stuck on Greyhound.

Posted: 11/29/07 at 8:30pmit's my experience, on long greyhound bus rides from new york, people tend to get there quite a bit earlier than in other places. if you're at all picky about where you sit, i'd recommend at least just going over about an hour before to check how much of a line there is.

I have taken the bus quite a few times in and out of NYC, and I agree that checking out the line about an hour ahead is very important. Although they will likely put more buses on the route if there are too many people, sometimes this takes HOURS!
Good Luck!

I've taken the Greyhound from Richmond, VA to NYC, and back - my general rule is to get there at least 30 minutes, if not sooner. You never know how many people are riding your route, and heading your way to a certain destination. And yes, if you want a good seat, or a seat to yourself, get there early. Make sure you have your ticket. ALSO, make sure there is a tag with your name and address on EVERY piece of luggage you have. They will occasionally check to make sure you have that, and if you don't, they'll boot you out of line and send you to go get a tag.
Just my little words of wisdom. And I hated 7 hours on the bus...how you'll survive 32 is beyond me. :)
