Here is a quick review of the seven shows I saw this weekend:

Movin' Out - Terrific shape, amazing cast, not the best choreography at times, dare I say, a bit uninspired. The band was amazing, Cavanaugh's u/s was not as good and I was thoroughly impressed by the sets.

Naked Boys Singing - Big mess, performers were lackluster both physically and talent-wise. What the hell was the choreographer thinking? Just not good.

Miracle Brothers - A huge mess, fairly talented cast that needs acting lessons, no direction whatsoever, neat design, this show will close quickly if someone doesn't come in to save it.... I must say, it has potential.

The Light at the Piazza - Perfect. Best show I saw this weekend and I loved Fabrizzio's replacement. I never once worried if he was gonna crack. This show is divine in every sense and you should run not walk to see it.

The Pillowman - Great production, amazing design, great direction, great acting all over with exception to Billy Crudup who I thought was awfully forced at times. The brother and Jeff Goldblum were top-notch. Not sure why this show is closing, the audience ate it up and it's great to see thrillers on stage.

Works and Process @ the Guggenheim - A evening of dance projects that are still being rehearsed and conceived. It was great to see people really go out on a limb with their art, especially the Moving Theater, while at times their piece waivered on the brink of pretentious performance art. Very intelligent evening, I recommend everyone check out the series if you enjoy the process and seeing emerging talent.

Lennon - Totally misunderstood show. It's not a jukebox musical nor is it a musical at all. It's a concert. It's an A&E Biography. It's a Musicography. There were certainly some weak points, mainly that of Chad Kimball's understudy who couldn't even sing the notes given. Amazing performances by Mandy Gonzalez, Chuck Cooper, Will Chase and Terrence Mann. This show has amazing potential for Off-Broadway, but will continue to drown on Broadway because no one understands it. I loved it.

Enjoy! Thoughts?
