OK so my December trip has come and gone, well almost gone anyway (we go home tomorrow) and I got to see a bunch a shows and have my own little reviews to post... here we go...

Radio City Christmas Spectacular: I thought it was great. Very sparkly and even though a lot of the routines were classics, they all seemed refreshed and new. The "Christmas in New York" sequence was AMAZING. Anyway, I liked it, even though there was an overall feeling of cheesy, campy, sparkly fun, it was still great to see, especially this time of year.

Cirque du Soleil WINTUK: I have seen two other Cirque shows (La Nouba in Orlando, and Delirium in Ft. Lauderdale) and after seeing those I was expecting a lot from WINTUK... and it sadly didn't deliver. It was boring, I found myself checking my watch frequently, and just seemed to lack a heart and soul. It's like they just figured they had to create a show that would appeal to families and Cirque fans and didn't try to make it anything special. it had to fit the space and theme, but it seemed to stop there. One thing that was really fantastic was the rag doll part... that was kind of awesome. But other than that, it seemed dull.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas: Cute. That's all I have to say. It was cute. If you like the Grinch like I do you'll like this show. Patrick Page is perfect as the Grinch, which makes it enjoyable for both the adults and children.

Young Frankenstein: I love Sutton Foster. That is all... well not really all... it seemed like the whole show was A LOT tighter than it was last time I saw it (2nd preview). Sutton was still a total standout... but maybe I'm partial. Megan Mullally was also great again.

The Little Mermaid: I don't know what everyone's problems with this show are. I thought it was pretty fantastic. Sierra Boggess was perfect as Ariel. I love the movie and was really nervous about onstage Ariel being as good as movie Ariel, but Sierra Boggess delivered big time. Who else delivered you ask? Sherie Rene Scott. She was quite possibly the best part of the show. I thought the whole thing was really stunning, in a good way. I had low, low expectations going in because of all the things I've read, but I was thrilled with how my favorite Disney movie was translated to the Broadway stage.

Xanadu: I LOVE THIS SHOW. I LOVE THIS CAST. I LOVE EVERYTHING XANADU. I AM DECLARING MYSELF A FANADU AND A MEMBER OF THE 'DU CREW. I THINK KERRY BUTLER IS FANTASTIC. I THINK CHEYENNE JACKSON HAS ONE OF THE BEST VOICES I'VE EVER HEARD. I THINK MARY TESTA AND JACKIE HOFFMAN ARE COMIC GOLD... NO COMIC PLATINUM. AND I THINK THIS IS A SHOW FILLED FROM BEGINNING TO END WITH HEART, JOY, TALENT, AND A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR. Sorry about all the caps... I just really love this show.

Legally Blonde: Laura Bell Bundy was amazing again. She sounded like she was getting congested or sick sometimes though, but still gave 150% and was great. Lots of understudies on 12/16 though. Gaelan Gilliland was on as Paulette, Tracy Jai Edwards was on as Vivienne, Matthew Risch was on as Warner, among others like Serena, Kyle, etc. Everyone was really good though so it didn't even matter. I actually liked Matthew Risch as Warner more than Richard Blake, but whatever. Still a fun, happy, bright show.

OK, that's all folks... next trip February 2008.
