The Cast of Godspell
And Founding Performer Liana Stampur with Clinton Curtis
Monday July 21, 2008 at NYU's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $60, available online. Student tickets are $20, only at the box office (the website says $12, but I paid 20 at the box office.) I'll be sure to post a review - see ya there if you're going!
Broadway Stands Up For Freedom!
When they say student, is that all students or specifically NYU students?
AN EXCELLENT ORGANIZATION AND AN EXCELLENT NIGHT OF ENTERTAINMENT!
Keep your eyes open, because on Friday evening, an interview (conducted by yours-truly) will be posted on BroadwayWorld about this event! Chatted with Donna Lieberman (NYCLU Executive Director), Jen Bender (Director), Daniel Goldstein (Former-Director) plus Celia Keenan-Bolger and Todd Buonopane
Tickets are $12 to all those with a valid student ID
As the list of performers is always subject to change: Michael Cerveris and Nick Blaemire will not be performing.
This was Cheyenne's song at the benefit last year:

Awww, no Michael? Anyway, I asked the Box Office guy yesterday after I paid $20 for my tickets, and he said the $12 was only for NYU students. Apparently anyone else with an ID pays $20. I got Orchestra seats anyway, so I'm happy nonetheless.

Is the cast of Godspell really going to be there? As far as I know that is just one person right now (Gavin) unless I missed an official announcement about the rest of the cast.

I went last year and it was a good time. That was the first time I had heard of Susan Blackwell and Hunter Bell and they were hilarious and touching at the same time.

I tried to get tickets this morning and they were sold out.
On that note, if anyone ends up with an extra, please pm me. :)

I also tried to get tickets today and was unable to. I'm very disappointed!
I'll echo it'sjustshowbiz - if anyone has an extra I would love it!

Went only to see Michael Cerveris, so was very dissapointed. (What WAS he doing tonight, anyway?). But it was a fun concert after all. Glad I went.

It was an enjoyable and fun night, and all for a great cause!
It's unfortunate Tony Kushner couldn't be there, but his letter was entertaining and inspiring at the same time. The concert showcased the performers' talents, while keeping the NYCLU's goals in mind.
The highlight for me was definitely seeing the new cast of Godspell on stage with Stephen Schwartz. I was out the whole day, so I hadn't seen all the casting announcements until I got home.

Agree... it was a fun night. And great to see the entire company of GODSPELL up there performing. If that song (All Good Gifts) was a teaser of what's to come, Broadway will definitely have a great sounding production of GODSPELL featuring a stunningly beautiful cast.
Other highlights for me were the interperative readings of poems and Todd Buonopane's song (hilarious, but don't remember the title).
Gavin Creel was amazing last night.
Cheyenne repeated his number from last year - with great success.
I also loved John Gallagher Jr playing the banjo.
It was cute to see the entire Keenan-Bolger trio up there last night. Was it just me, or did Celia look a little tipsy? Anyway, ItsCalledHistory, Todd Buonopane sand "In Short" by Pasek and Paul. You can listen to it on their website:

I love that song so much. When the intro music started, I giggled like an idiot, and the people around me must've thought I was insane. Oh well..
The highlight for me was Julia Murney singing "Back to Before." She sounded and looked gorgeous.
Murney did give a terrific perf. of "Back to Before." Very impressive.
