I just got this email about BROADWAY IDOL for the NY Musical Theatre Festival! I am so there! Anyone with me? I bet there will be a HUGE turnout. Better get there early!!!

OPEN CALL:

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 11TH

The New York Musical Theatre Festival is looking for The Next Big Broadway Star.

Is it you?

If you've never been in a Broadway show, come to our OPEN CALL next MONDAY, armed with your headshot, resume and A Broadway song of your choice .


WHEN: MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 11 th,9AM-6PM

First Come, First Served


WHERE: THE GIBSON SHOWROOM

421 W. 54th Street, between 9TH & 10th Avenues


Performances will be critiqued by our panel of celebrity judges, including:


Stephen Schwartz, Chip Zien, Marc Shaiman, Lillias White,Denis O'Hare, Eden Espinosa, Manoel Felciano, Cheyenne Jackson, Felicia Finley, Kevin Cahoon,
Lonny Price, Donna Lynne Champlin, Marty Thomas, the cast of TITLE OF SHOW, the cast of TARZAN, and host SETH RUDETSKY!


9 finalists will go on to COMPETE in:

Round One: My Favorite Things: Friday, SEPT. 15th @ 11PM.

The 9 contestants sing a Broadway song of any styling.


Round Two: Anyone Can Idol: Friday, Sept. 22nd @ 11PM.

A Sondheim sing-off between the 6 remaining contestants.


Round Three: A Star Is Born: Friday, Sept. 29th @ 11PM.

The FINAL 3 sing 2 songs EACH: one that plucked another performer from obscurity and the one that will make them broadway history.


The most Audience votes advance performers to the next round. The winner will be crowned the first-ever Broadway Idol and featured exclusively in a NYMF-produced concert at Ars Nova.


ROUNDS ONE, TWO and THREE will take place during the NYMF @ Nite series of parties at New World Stages, 340 W. 50th Street between 8th & 9th Aves.
