NYMF's The View From Here...FABULOUS!!

Hey! I saw one of the NYMF's show's called View From Here last night (opening night). It was AMAZING. Leroy Reams was there! Michael Rupert...it was so cool. Its starring Shonn Wiley...he's so wonderful.

Anybody else see it?

I saw this show last night! This was an AMAZING performance. I loved the music and loved the emotion. Is it true they are only playing 4 shows? Shonn Wiley made me laugh, and then made me cry. I really enjoyed this performance...

I saw it too!! Michael Rupert was there? No way!! Shonn Wiley is a comic genius. I literally fell out of my seat laughing so hard! Must. Go. See. Again.

The writer's name is Timothy Huang. He won the Audience award last year at the festival. He's hilarious.

there are only 4 shows total. One tomorrow. Its only $15. Who's going? I'm going again! I think Shonn Wiley is HOT!

I just went to the writer's website. there are full downloads of some of the songs, in case anyone wants. they're sung by the writer who doesn't have a "broadway" voice, but it's not terrible. www.timothyhuangarts.com/tvfh

Oh yeah I heard the songs, "A little part of everyday" is the best one.

I agree Timothy doesn't sing them very well but, wait til you hear Shonn sing them...WOW

I wonder if they will do an album?

Oh gosh, they HAVE to do an album. Shonn's range last night was amazing. I was really impressed that he could do the super high's and the super lows as well. The ranginess of Huang's music he handled beautifully. I can't believe anyone can go eighty minutes without an intermission and stay standing like that.

Feedback time: You guys, that was really really good that time, and the way you brought in Gothampc in the role of the "you must pay the rent" landlord type was sheer genius.

what's shilling? seriously. i dunno what that is. i'm definitely not any of these other people though. i just thought the show was great last night and the folks there said if I liked it i should come out and show support... clearly outsiders are not wanted here though so i guess i'll just go away.

A shilling was some type of British coin back in history. I'm not sure what this exactly has to do with this show, or this forum for that matter. I DID, however, see this show on Tuesday night and rather enjoyed it. For what it's worth, I would definitely pay a few shillings to see this show again. Take that as you may, that's my 2 cents. Sorry.

BRAVO! You really took it to the next level that time. Most people just crumble and don't see a second narrative arc even though there are a whole range of possibilities.

Now, can anybody do anything with the following topics:

* audience members make beeline to box office to buy future tickets

* celebrities in attendance, minor or major

* ovations, standing

* overheard buzz leaving the theater

* stage door; cast members SO NICE, down-to-earth

wow FindingNamo... so much anger... why don't you do us all a favor and just go see this show? Maybe you'll see what we're talking about.
I mean, is it that inconceivable that a new writer and new actor would have a new audience? An audience that doesn't regularly post on message boards and cry foul at the first sight of anyone who claims to be in the know about something before you do?
Dude. Relax. There's still three performances. You can go see it and then post an honest opinion, and hey, you can even take credit for having seen it first, how's that? None of us will mind.

Show. Good. Music. Good. Actor. Very talented. This is not some worldwide conspiracy. Deal with it.

yeah, i'm not really too sure what the hubbub is here... can't a guy just go to a show, enjoy it, and post some opinions on it without being accused of something or another... what gives? I saw the show, I liked it. It's worth seeing again. What more do you want from me? Don't be such a downer...

shilling aside, I have to agree that the show was pretty great. A very good idea and extremely efficient story-telling wrapped up into a very neat little package.

Shonn Wiley...wow. Very few can carry something like this off. He's thoroughly charming and this piece is a fantastic showcase for his talent.

Other than a few little directorial/staging things, the show is in pretty fantastic shape.

Hope it gets another life.
