Nathan Lane - Odd Couple

Do you think that Nathan Lane will begin to adlib in The Odd Couple like he has done in previous shows? Do you think Neil Simon will be happy about his adlibs?
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

So far, Lane's been very good at following the script....it's Broderick we have to worry about. Hopefully he's learned his lines by now.

Lane had to adlib to cover for Brad Garrett going up in his lines on Saturday.

If he adlibs later in the run, I think Simon will be too busy counting his royalties to care.

re: Nathan Lane - Odd Couple

I doubt Lane will be fooling around or adlibbing during Odd Couple since the piece really doesn't lend itself to that. Forum and the Producers were different animals entirely, very freewheeling and over-the-top, almost circus-like, so an ad lib here or there didn't undermine the proceedings and in fact added to them (and also, both were roles originally made famous by Zero Mostel who's off-book antics are legendary).

Unless a prop breaks or something goes wrong on stage (or perhaps if a cell phone goes off at the wrong time), I would be surprised if Lane and Broderick didn't behave themselves.
