Nathan Lane brings BUTLEY to Broadway this Fall

A new production of Simon Gray's Butley, with Nathan Lane in the title role, will reach Broadway's Booth Theatre on Oct. 5. Opening is Oct. 25. Nicholas Martin will direct.

This has been in the works for some time. I'm glad to see it come to fruition. If you didn't get to see Lane in this in Boston, get tickets. His performance was wonderful as was Martin's direction. I did think some of the supporting cast might have been stronger, but we'll see what they do with that on Broadway.

When we did it it was a box-office flop but it was a hit with the critics! I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!! I won an award for playing Butley!!!!

Is this a limited engagement where they have a pre-set closing date or will it remain open till "Magical Thinking" has to come in?

I believe it closes on January 28, to make way for The Year of Magical Thinking *or whatever its called*.

That seems strange since "Magical Thinking" opens at the end of March. That's giving alot of time to a show that I can't imagine has aot of sets (it's a one woman show). But whatever, as long as I get to see this I'm happy)

Vanessa Redgrave, if I'm not mistaken. Personally, I love that the Booth is filling up. It's my favorite theatre in NY. I don't know why, but I just love it (maybe it's the location, the marquee, and the fact that the Pillowman played there and i think of it every time i walk in).
