Need Help with Godspell Quote!

Hi all!

I need some help and hoping I came to the right place!!! My daughter will be participating in a Scholarship Contest (I am not allowed to call it a pageant!) We are buying an Good Luck/ We are proud ad in the back of the program. I would love to include a quote form her favorite show Godspell in the ad. Can any one think of something from a Godspell song that would work in the we are proud, you are a great kid do you best category ....you get the idea....

"You are the light of the world" is a bit grand a claim to make of your daughter, however wonderful I'm sure she is.

People who know the New Testament will know that "The Light of the World" is Jesus.
The term is considered one of the "Titles" of Jesus. Calling your daughter this in an ad is akin to calling her "The Bread of Life" or "The King of the Jews".

It might be perceived that you're carrying parental pride a tad too far.

A quick look at Godspell's lyrics didn't seem to provide anything appropriate. Never realized how harsh and admonitory many of Godspell's lyrics are! Most are adapted from gospel verses, of course.
Maybe a simple "Day by day, you bring more joy and love into our lives. We're so proud of you." or "We are more proud of you day by day." would fit the bill.

I do like the one above, you could also use "all good gifts are sent from heaven bove" your daughter being the good gift of course :)

These are great ideas. What if I combined and said " You are the light of our world! Day by day, you bring more joy and love into our lives. We're so proud of you." Does that sound OK??

It sounds fine to me. And I love that you're combining because that's something only your daughter will get.

To everyone else it will seem like a nice sentiment, but to her it will have a special meaning that you took the time and effort to compose a quote from her favorite show.

You're an awesome mom, and best of luck to your daughter!

Dollypop, I can never tell if your Godspell love is tounge in cheek or sincere.... if it is the former I laugh along, and if the latter more power to you. Godspell is likely the musical I have seen most frequently in various productions some exceptional some horrible.

It's hard finding a good Godspell quote! I think I'd go with "Like Carol Channing, our love for you goes on far longer than anyone thought humanly possible!"
