Any suggestions?? The clock is ticking and I need to find a show for a high-school production.
We've done 'Fools', 'Bullshot Crummond', and 'Arsenic & Old Lace'.
First priority is that it's funny and that I can somehow keep it clean.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Posted: 10/1/04 at 10:18pmI think Auntie Mame would be great. My cousin was Mame in that production in High School in the early sixties. She had the opportunity to war one of the dresses hat Rosalind Russell wore. The play might not exactly sqeaky clean , but I think it is failrly tame by today's standards.

what r u taking my promo now, I was on the kick to tell everyone they should do this about a month ago (even had the logo as my avitar) its an awsome show, makes people think, usually when it ends the audience is silent for at least 1 min. they never see the ending comeing and yes there are some good one liners in it (the Dr's HOW R U JOSH, in the middle of his tantum) I've also see it done in blacklight, and it was wow really wow

Posted: 10/2/04 at 9:51amI've produced clean shows for 28 years at a conservative private school..........Old chestnuts mentioned are fine...." You Can't Take It With You"....has loads of great parts..However, it has some racial stereotypes that will make an audience cringe..A black maid and her welfare boyfriend...E-mail me back for help on that....some newer shows that are appropriate are "The Last Night of Ballyhoo"..thought provoking, funny and major roles are young......"Over the River and Through The Woods"....Grandparents funny relationship with grandson... FOOLS FOOLS FOOLS FOOLS by Neil Simon
This was probably the most fun I ever had doing a straight play, and the audience just loved it. I played Sophia, and we all just had a total blast. Good clean fun for all ages!

BadKarma- I'm directing a production of Bang Bang right now for a high school in SF. It is a wonderful show! This is my first time directing and I am so glad that I get to start with this show. I'de love to talk to you about the production you saw.
I would also suggest Neil Simon's RUMORS, its not totally squeeky clean but I've seen high schools do it and it was not inappropriate.

CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN
We are doing that at my school. It is SQUEAKY clean and humorous, though it is a little dated.

Oh man! I LOVE the movie of "Cheaper By The Dozen." SOB! I've been trying to think of a way to get a thread going about that movie. :)
What about BUTTERFLIES ARE FREE? It's not squeaky clean but quite tame and it is funny. It's a small cast. Is that OK?
