Does anyone know if there is a book or website that lists EVERY show that has played on Broadway (regardless of length of run), by season?
Theater World books include off Broadway. I just want to look up a given season and see the list of all shows that opened on Broadway then.
Does such a reference exist?

I don't know about a website.
To my knowledge there is no one volume. This does not mean it does not exist, but I have never seen it nor heard of one like it.
Remember that such a volume would be technically "out of date" following each opening.
What is referred to as the "Best Plays" series or sometimes called the Burns Mantle yearbook (after a longtime editor) does list the shows by season and they are published annually. They date to the 1890s or so and a good library would have a complete collection. I believe Applause is the current publisher of the series, but I am not sure who the editor is these days. Maybe Jeffrey Sweet.
Perhaps I can suggest that this desired volume could become your calling card into the business we call show. How to make it a must-have is the difficult point. If it is just stats, who cares? There has to be some text and context.
That may not be what you want to hear. I sure wouldn't want to see this addressed to me.

I'll second the www.ibdb.com
It's incredibly extensive and you can search by season and it will give you a full list of all the shows. You can spend years looking up all the info on that site.

www.theatredb.com
click on more search options, and then you can enter a season (which is Jun 1st of a given year until May 31st of the next year)...it's a pretty good resource.
