I caught a preview performance of this yesterday at Philadelphia Theatre Company. A satirical take on the Microsoft/Apple war, I thought
Nerds was a lot of fun.
Jim Poulos (who remains my favorite Mark in
Rent) was a fine Bill Gates, although his voice seems to be under some strain. Charlie Pollack was hilarious as Steve Jobs and can wail like a banshee. The supporting cast was were pretty great and even included
Revenge of the Nerds's own Wormser, Andrew Cassese!
The score by Hal Goldberg is pretty catchy and the book by Jordan Allen-Dutton and Eric Weiner provides a lot of laughs. A few jokes fall flat, but it's still in previews, so who knows what will happen in the next few days?
If you're in the Philadelphia area I highly recommend going to see it.
