Oh yes, I know...

Some people out there have no idea about a world not filled with Ann Reinking or Karen Ziemba or the mono pressing of "The Golden Apple" or the never ending debate about Bernadette; is she sick? Is she hoarse? Is he over-parted? Did she miss all the high notes again and even when she does that isn’t she just swell?

Oh, I know this is off-topic but so is Vaudeville! Damnit! Few understand that the music scene today IS our Vaudeville!

Let's leave the Broadway world for just a moment....and rejoice in what is sure to be one of the historic moments of the last 10 years!

Britney & Christina To Perform Madonna Classic At VMA's

The New York Daily News is spoiling the fun for tonight's Video Music Awards. They report that according to a spy at rehearsals, Britney Spears will appear in a white wedding dress on top of a giant wedding cake while singing 'Like a Virgin,' in tribute to Madonna's number at the 1984 VMAs. Then Christina Aguilera will take the stage, dressed identically, and do the same routine. After that, Madonna and Missy Elliott come out and sing Madonna's latest hit, 'Hollywood'.

What I find startling is that you think something like that is cool. You come off like somebody's older, single uncle trying to be "hep." These things you take seriously are about a half a notch above Karen Ziemba on the Squaresville Meter. If that.

In a year that's capable of producing the White Stripes doing "I Just Don't Know What to Do with Myself," Junior Senior, and Sleater-Kinney's "One Beat," you're acting like you seriously think Britney and Christina are "where it's at." Back when the Beatles were huge there were folks who didn't quite get it but wanted to appear young and groovy who would say things, "I enjoy the rock and roll sounds. You know, like the Supremes, with their glamorous ball gowns and wigs." And hipsters just rolled their eyes.

Enjoy The Battle of The Ex-Mouseketeers, Uncle Voiceanth.

Coming from a man who posted the lisping topic:

Sondheim Quote for the Young People..

while nodding his head about the crime (I say miracle) that no one under the age of 75 give a rat's ass about Sondheim ....

and baby, the day I see YOU at Irving Plaza watching the "white Stripes" ...is the day I kiss you on the mouth..

Your a poser...you don't know a thing about those groups or anything else...

the only thing you know about is trying to hurt people to make yourself feel better...

To me, this behavior gives me a real good idea about what you must look and smell like...and honey, on that topic, I don't blame you for being angry!

FindingNamo is a poser? That's a real bad case of the pot and kettle, Voiceanth. Or maybe you don't like being the only person cool enough to post about things other than theatre on here?

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

I don't know about Britney and Christina..but Madonna rocks. And the though of seeing her share the stage with Missy E. has me very excited indeed.

Let's see Voiceanth, I first saw the White Stripes live when they were touring the De Stijl album, not that you've heard of that one. I then saw them open for Sleater Kinney on their tour before their last one. Yes, the White Stripes as an opening band.

I saw Sleater Kinney on the "One Beat" tour this past October (and even had a great chat with Janet Weiss, their drummer, before the show), with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs opening for them. Yes, that's right, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs as an opening band, too. I've seen Mission of Burma twice in the last year, not that you have the faintest idea who they are, and will be seeing them two more times this fall.

Speaking of reunion tours, I enjoyed X last month and the Sex Pistols last week, with the punk band Dropkick Murphys opening with a blistering set... populist rock that puts your stadium playing hero Bruce Springsteen to shame.

Everybody who has been in my car for the past month has said, "Who is this group Junior Senior you're playing non-stop? I gotta get me a copy!" I'm not sure how they haven't heard of them, because they're all a lot hipper than you.

Don't think of this as a refutation of your poseur (that's the spelling, btw) charge, think of it as advice for people who might be trying to find some contemporary non-Broadway sounds and my bid for them not being mis-directed by your post.

Also, read your condescending tone with which you began this thread and think again about giving me attitude and telling me *I* want to hurt people. Oh, yeah, no thanks for the kiss on the mouth offer... you can kiss somewhere else.

You had a chat with Janet Weiss?? THE Janet Weiss? From Rocky Horror? Is she still running around in her underwear?

I know, I opted not to mention that her actual name is Janet Weiss... and it is kinda tough to not yell "Slut!" at a Sleater Kinney show when she gets introduced. Cuz the girls would beat me up. Their shows are really energetic, for a three piece they make a lotta joyful noise. Pick hits: "Little Babies" from Dig Me Out, and "You're No Rock n Roll Fun" from The Hot Rock.

Besides Madonna and Missy I'm also very excited to see Coldplay. I was supposed to see them live a couple of months ago but that fell through. I think Gwenyth is a very luck girl.

Namo, your insulting, disgusting posts are a topic discussed off and on this board.

This is the first time you have written anything of substance..and showed how...you could be an interesting poster...

However, your daily assaults on everyone have made many question if this board should indeed be moderated..

I have no interest in hurting anyone and when I am attacked for not doing a high kick about Bernie or for going off-topic..I usually ignore it..

But it’s getting old and people who can’t won’t or don’t know how to fight back are getting wounded…and why should anyone have to fight or brave an assault from you or anyone…this should be fun...

May I suggest you keep writing interesting and informed posts and stop acting like a 13 year bully old begging for a fight..with everyone…

May I suggest you read more of my posts before you make generalizations about them? I know you're away for long stretches at The Pines and P'town... but this is not, in fact, the first time I have written anything of substance. "The hurting" (not a Tears for Fears reference, but I digress) you're referring to took place on another board at another time and I still have no idea what happened, but I did apologize when it was CLEARLY pointed out to me.

It's not just Bernadette that you write about it a condescending and hurtful tone, it's every time you try to be a hip youngster with your "Christina voice of her generation" (snicker) type threads that have to begin with a preamble along the lines of, "Oh, I KNOW music begins and ends with Broadway for you plebes..." and then you end up talking about such junk pop pap. You then ice that cake with a supposedly credibility enhancing declaration of your years of study of songs that are so much more difficult than anything on Broadway in the last 20 years. Please! I may make quips, I may bring up issues people disagree with, but I don't try to shut them down with qualifications of my credibility, although the one time I did, this thread, is the one post of mine you found interesting.

Not surprised.

Namo...you don't quip..you insult... and you know that...everyone knows it...

...it's your shtick...it's what you do..and I assure you, many are tired of it...

I am thrilled you remember everything I write.. wish I could say the same...

If I ever gave out my "qualifications" its because you have implied that I should.. you like to think I'm this D&G dressed gay boy who knows nothing about anything because it makes you feel better....

I ignore it because anyone who spews that much vitriol over someone he has never met is so obviously troubled...

but my kindness is ending....as is my understanding..

I am not alone.....

and please don't private message me, all sad, looking for some understanding..

you did it before, without much success.. Updated On: 8/28/03 at 10:51 AM

Actually, darling, the one PM I sent you encouraged you to stop being so hysterical with a Joan Crawford "You've RUINED this thread!" screech. Sadness had nothing to do with it. If you think it did, I am getting a better sense of your reading comprehension skills.

Also, please go back and check the thread where you listed your extensive training, I had nothing to do with whatever cued you to delight us with your CV. In fact, I don't think I was even in that thread before you did that. You recently posted that you forget things that you've written within a day or two, I happen to remember things I read and write. It's my blessing, it's my curse. It's no reflection on you that I can remember you dropping lines like "I go away to The Pines for four days and I come back to this!" Oh, DO you now?!

Also, I never mentioned D+G, but it's a RIOT you think I did! A picture's worth a thousand words, Voiceanth, and in my case, I use words to paint the picture. How they led you to me being smelly, I do not know. The aforementioned lack of reading comprehension, I guess.

BTW, this board IS monitored, and if it were more heavily I guess we would see an end to "when I am attacked for not doing a high kick about Bernie or for going off-topic..I usually ignore it...." I guess THAT'S in the spirit of board co-operation.

Whatever you say, namo...

whatever you say...

everyone loves you...

you never do or say anything wrong...

you never instigate or hurt anyone..

You never go out of your way to pick a fight...

as I said, very sad!

"everyone loves you..."

If *everyone* loves you, you're doing something wrong.

"you never do or say anything wrong..."

Who on earth never does or says anything wrong, Saint Voiceanth?

"you never instigate or hurt anyone.."

I often instigate points of discussion. I never intentionally hurt anyone although I do like to ****inflated egos, which is where I assume our conflict lies.

"You never go out of your way to pick a fight..."

No, I never go *out of my way* to pick a fight.

That list of quotes came out of your noggin, not mine.
