Hey guys! I saw The Producers last time I went to NYC and i thought it was hillarious! When I heard they are making a movie with Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, and Uma Therman, I was really excited! I wanna find out more about the movie as to when it will come out and any facts you guys know about it. Thanks!

~Peace Out~

The super hot Roger Bart will be reprising his role as Carmen Ghia...Gary Beach as Roger Debris...Will Ferrell as Franz Leibken...Nathan and Matthew of course...
That's all I know, and itll be out sometime December 2005

And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps... What did she realize, Kitten? That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs. What's wrong with that? Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had... Where? On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.

starts filming next month (around the 18th) at the Brooklyn Navy Yard's new film studios. they will be doing exteriors around town, especially in the theater district. the springtime for hitler scene will be filmed in a real theater (my guess is the St. James.) that face will include Matthew and Uma pulling a Fred and Ginger and dancing on the ceiling. that's all the info released at this point.

Release date for the movie is tentatively scheduled for 12/21 this year.

Pre Production is already going on and production (filming) is scheduled to start around the third week in February.

Gary Beach = Roger Debris
Roger Bart = Carmen Ghia
Nathan Lane = Max Bialystock
Matthew Broderick = Leo Bloom
Will Ferrell = Franz Liebkin
Uma Thurman = Ulla (oh forget the rest of the name...it's too long for this post)

Dancers and extras have already been cast but there's not word on the smaller parts (like Mr Marks and some of the juicy audition slots that might go to cameo performers or those from the original cast who were not cast in their original roles because of box office concerns).

Of course all of this presumes Lane will be well enough to start production as planned in February. No recent word on that and though they made an initial statement that he would be ready...with these kinds of back injuries, it's really very much an individual thing...so it is tough to truly predict.

You know (well, you'd think anyway) Mel will make his cameo, I'd think more than in Springtime for Hitler (auditioning Hitler maybe?). I'd also love to see a Gene Wilder cameo lol

Oh, and Sam, its Ulla Inga Hansen Bensen Yonsen Tallen-Hallen Svaden-Svanson lol

If they can find enough bulbs!! re: New 'The Producers' Movie

And since I haven't in a while, I just wanted to threadjack all of this to give individual hugs to Roger and Gary and a special get well hug to Nathan.

I'm still on my "Roger's on tv tonight" high and need an outlet for it. re: New 'The Producers' Movie

Did they even finish building Steiner yet? Last time I saw it on the news and they were still working on it.The Producers will be the first film shot at Steiner, which, when completed will be the biggest studio on the East Coast.

I'm sure I'll hear more about it tonight at Times Talks. I'd give ANYTHING to work on that film (I work in film anyway so it's not like i only want to work on this project. If I had the nerve, I'd ask "Stro" about it but I'd probably look so stupid I would never be able to face her again so since i don't want to have to run in the opposite direction if i happen to see her so....oh well.

"That Face" is being staged by Stanley Donen
"Prisoners of Love" is being staged by Seymour Felix

Techicolor color consultant: Natalie Kalmus

Costumes: William Ivey Long, Orry-Kelly, Helen Rose
Makeup, Ben Nye, Dot Poneodel

I hear that Iris Adriam, Marian Martin, Patsy Kelly, Edna May Oliver, Marjorie Main and Thelma Ritter are up for 'Little Old Ladies'.

And while we're on the subject of wacky rumors...how about the one over on ATC about Lane getting 6 weeks to be ready for production (which he already has anyway -- count the weeks to mid February) because of knee surgery.

If we're going to address the multitude of physical trauma endured by Lane over the past couple of years, we could start with the ankles and work up the legs to the back and shoulders but then he wouldn't be ready in 6 weeks.

Though I hear that his back up for the movie is Danny DeVito :)

I absolutetly cannot wait for this movie. I cannot see the musical as a movie, so I am really anxious to see how this will turn out (and I have high hopes for it)!

I hope it doesn't come out a limited release first, and I'd have to wait until January 2006 to see it (like POTO!).

That's likely to be the case if what I read a while back is true. Limited release Christmas 2005. Full release January 2006.

Surprisingly, POTO's limited release was more than NY and LA. It's playing in my smallish city. Sold out showings and this is not a city known for its widespread knowledge or appreciation of theater.

I think Mel should be the bum in the opening number who says "it's good to be the king".

however MEL appears on screen, he will of course HAVE to at least be the voice that sings "don't be stupid - be a smartie - come and join the nazi party" Oh, Master...you are a kidder

Producers release date is 12/21 for major cities and thereafter for all others.

Of course that is all dependent on the movie being made on schedule as we said before

Nicole Kidman is out. Did you read ANY of the posts above? She has been replaced by Uma Thurman.

Anyone who say ANCHORMAN or ELF knows Ferrell can sing (remember "Baby It's Cold Outside" and "Afternon Delight"?"

For that matter, remember the character he did on SNL - the middle school music teacher (with his wife) who would perform at banquets, shopping malls, etc.? "Hot mike - hot mike!"

Will Ferrel can sing. Not to the extent of a true Broadway performer. But, how challenging is Franz Liebkind's singing? Uma Thurman I don't know if she can but would be wonderfully surprised if she could.
