A couple friends of mine wrote parody lyrics for "Written in the Stars" and sang it as their final song in their Senior Cabaret. I thought they were so funny, I had to post them here. I hope you enjoy them!
I am here to tell you
We will probably be poor.
Simple really, isn’t it
Living in New York.
A lifetime of not knowing
Where the paycheck is coming from.
You’ll think of me or speak of me
And wonder if I’m in a show
But I’m crying on the floor eating Spaghettios.
Always wondered what I’d feel
When stardom came to me
But I’ll have to wait
Because I’m still
A waitress at Applebee’s
Every summer of my life
Til I get my Union card
I’ll be paintin’ sets and hangin’ lights
And paying all my dues
In a theatre that used to be a barn
Out in the boons.
Is it written in the stars
Will I ever have a job?
Should I have picked a different major?
Can I stop mooching from my mom?
Are the shows that I’ve done here
The best parts I’ll ever play
Will they be the only leading roles
On my resume?
Nothing can be altered
I’ll see you in NYC
I graduate
In five short months
It’s too late for plan B.
When I was young I wanted
To be on a Broadway stage
Now sometimes in my darkest thoughts
I wish I’d never found
Lloyd Webber, Stephen Sondheim and Jason Robert Brown
Is it written in the stars
Will I ever have a job?
Should I have picked a different major?
Can I stop mooching from my mom?
Are the shows that I’ve done here
The best parts I’ll ever play
Will they Be the only leading roles
On my resume?
*ROTFL*
This is pretty funny.
I just saw AIDA and this song is one of my favorite. This is clever.
Really fun! Thanks.

As a stage mom, I found these lyrics a horrifying glimpse into my kid's future...but very clever! Thanks for posting!

BWAHAHAHHAHAHAA!
Stagemom- I hear ya. As a Theatre major nearing graduation, these lyrics scare the heck out of me. They're funny, because they're true.
