You can't take people from ATC seriously...or anyone on this board for that matter. There's been no official announcement yet on who's taking over for Susan Egan and Jon Secada. They'll most likely extend their "closing date" for a bit longer. For some reason, I don't see them closing the show that close to the holiday season.

I read that post as well and I think it was "tongue-in-cheek" as a dream end-of-show wish......

You will just have to wait for the "official" announcement.

Not to be offensive towards anyone, but is it historically correct to cast an African American as a Jewish German emcee? I know there have been African American's who've played Roxie or Velma in Chicago, but those characters aren't anything like the Emcee. Could Taye Diggs do this?
First off, as far as that rumor goes, I had heard talk of Taye Diggs for another show altogether. But I wouldn't make an issue of the Emcee's ethnicity, even with the very literal ending of the current revival. The Emcee is a bit of a limbo figure anyway...a device that pops up to comment ironically on the action. Moreover, a great actor can make you forget about issues of skin color. Case in point: I once saw a production of Fiddler on the Roof with a black Tevye. In about two seconds of stage time, I believed him as a Russian Jew.

For the record so this isn't taken the wrong way by ANYONE:
I'd be all for Taye coming in and closing Cabaret. I have no problem whatsoever w/ an African AM playing the Emcee. I was just seeing what anyone else thought of the casting of him. Plus, I say bring in Toni. I'm sure she'd be great.

I'm sure the producers are listening to every word you say, Pajama. In fact they are clinging to those words like ivy on a fence!

You're so adorable when you're vexed, Pajama!
