New Cats US Tour

I've got the opportunity to cover the Cats tour coming to Vancouver in April, but I'm having a hard time finding out any information about it. Can anyone tell me anything? I've never seen the show before, but I saw parts of the DVD. Is this tour equity/non-equity? I noticed on ticketmaster that in at least one of the stops, the theatre is in "concert seating style" (I don't recall if it's actually taking place in an arena). So the stage is in the middle and the seats are entirely surrounding it. Is this typical??

I don't think its like that everywhere, but from the DVD alone, I guess that could work. Dunno tho.

re: New Cats US Tour

I don't know if the tour going around now is the same one that was touring in 2003, but that one was non-Equity. As for the "concert-style" seating, that *does* sound like it's playing an arena. When it was in Denver, it played the Buell Theater and they didn't move seats around or put seats onstage or anything.
I can't imagine how a concert-style venue for CATS as a touring show can be any good. That only works in permanent venues (the Winter Garden had a semi-traditional proscenium design, but the set basically extended into every part of the theater, and the New London did it in theater in the round).

The tour that was going around about three months ago was Non-Equity. The sat was based on the original design (eliminating the flip down pirate ship deck)and was actually made of INFLATABLE modules for easy touring!
