I was just reading on playbill.com that Sergio Trujillo, who did the choreography for 'Jersey Boys', is working with Disney on a "New concept for the European production of [Tarzan]."
This production opens Apr 15 in Amsterdam. Does anyone know anything about the 'New concept'? Is Bob Crowley involved at all?
Just wondering.

I heard they are changing the entire show...maybe they will have real monekys.
im actually not sure. ask lizzya9.
I think it's rollerskates..... They are going to make these changes to the American tour as well. I hope they replace that young Tarzan song with the one from Tarzan II.
I'm from Holland, so maybe I can help a little.
Stage Entertainment is very proud that they can produce Tarzan this quick after the broadwaypremiere, but... They wanted to improve the show. Tarzan will not get a new concept but the original concept will be extended. It's just gonna be more and more. For what we've got to see in the media it all looks great, but it's still Disney. They also said they were going to fix the fact that you couldn't see everything from all the theatre and there will be more 'over the audience' action.
Bob Crowley was very pleased with the dutch production of Aida, some set desings that he made were never used on broadway but they got back in the dutch production, because the theatre is larger. The same with Tarzan, there are more 'possibilities'.
Personally I'd wish they produced a different show for this theatre, because it will be the fourth disney musical in a row and I'm longing for something else since there are only two open-end-theatres in whole of Holland.
The premiere will not be in Amsterdam, but in Scheveningen about 200 meters from the beach.
The final audition for the role of Tarzan was broadcast live on national television (Do I hear anyone say Disney and Stage Entertainment are commercial?) You can find some songs from that broadcast on the site-that-shall-not-be-named.
On the official website (www.musicals.nl) you can find some rehearsal footage. Direct link: http://www.musicals.nl/download/tarzan_high.mpg

seems they cah do alot up there, that theatre is huge and not structured like a typical broadway theatre (there is no balcony) so they could do much more over audience stuff since there is no balcony to block your view (it actually reminds me of a vegas type theatre.
When I was in Amsterdam there was a shop window that had a huge window display and advertising for the show.

Would it be in English?
It makes me want to see it in New York.
Is a US Tour possible?
New Concept For European Tarzan: it will actually be entertaining.

The dutch cast recording will be released on April 24th, but as from the today the cd is available in the theatre. I bought I today when I was there (duh).
The cd's actually very good, bigger orchestrations, more musical, more bombastic.
The premiere is in two days and the show's ready for the press. There has been a lot of changes during the last three weeks and when I saw the show for the first time, but... the book is still lame.

From the pictures, nothing much looks different with the set except for a large orange spinning thing with, what looks like, Young Tarzan on it...

well, in the vid, i defeninatly noticed a significant number of alterations in staging, some different execution of costumes in pics on the show's site.. etc.
The Choreography is completely different. The new choreopgraphy is done by Sergio Trujillo (I have no idea how to pronounce it).
One of the producers said they've changed about 30% of the show. You should find those 30% mostly in big, bigger, biggest.
