Please help if you can!
For next Spring, my Women's College wants to put on a play that has been published since 2000. We're looking for an interesting play with a cast of at least four women. There can be male roles, but the fewer the better (they're hard to fill!). Also, my campus isn't particularly ethnically diverse. Any ideas?

On top of my head:
"Six Women With Brain Death or Expiring Minds Want To Know"
"Blues In The Night"
there is an amazing play for many women (i think there were close to 20 in it when i saw it) that was written in 1999. It is called SONG OF SURVIVAL. this play is one of the best plays I have seen in years
Which women's college? I went to Wells, so I can certainly sympathise...
Try Caryl Churchill's Top Girls-- all-female cast, good debate about women's issues, great play in general. Of course, there's always The Vagina Monologues...
Or if you want a musical, Nunsense is good, and Wells did a very strong Godspell with an all-female cast.
Good luck!
another musical suggestion - you could do Quilters...
Oh, my God. I'm so ashamed for having forgotten Quilters. I'm such a bad feminist!
Quilters' is amazing...I did it after 8th grade, but I was having to play parts that were a little older than me, so Quilter's, while not as recent as you are looking for, is a great show to do for women. i believe there is only one point in time where a man is on stage, but he doesn't have any lines. So you know the show isn't that old because I'm a high school juior now.
1. Thanks Forester, I'll look into both of those.
2. "Song of Survival", "Nunsense", "Godspell", "Top Girls", and "Quilters" were all published before 2000, and sadly will not work for us.
3. "The Vagina Monologues" won't go past the administration.
4. Tesse - I go to Saint Mary's College of Notre Dame.

Hey, my school has done Come Back to the Five and Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean. It has about seven women and one man. It's a great, tragic show. I suggest you take a look at it. What about Steel Magnolias or Dancing at Lughnasa too. Both are great!
Good Luck!
