NEW PODCAST FEATURES STARS OF BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON
Hailed as one of the freshest, most exciting musicals to hit Broadway this fall, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson is an emo, pop-punk opera about our seventh president, Andrew Jackson. Currently in previews at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson opens on Thursday, October 13th, 2010. But, before this much anticipated opening, stars Jeff Hiller and Lucas Near-Verbrugghe sat down with Matt Fried on the premiere episode of Sleeping In With Matt Fried (set to air this Sunday, October 10th, 2010) to talk history, comedy, and eyeliner.

Billed as "a new talk show with a really lazy twist", Sleeping In With Matt Fried is a creative spin on the late night talk show format. In it, Matt interviews his guests while both are in his bed in Brooklyn (fully clothed), chatting over morning coffee and the Sunday paper.

When talking about Andrew Jackson as interesting subject matter for the medium of a musical, Lucas Near-Verbrugghe tells Matt Fried, “… you come in with your basic kind-of American history knowledge, however deep or shallow that is, of this guy who’s on the twenty-dollar bill, and I think this show attempts to shed a little bit more light on who he was in an interesting way…” When discussing the impact Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson will have on society at-large, Jeff Hiller states, “Creating dialogue, in general, I think is great, and I do feel like people come out of this talking about it, because it’s a really fun show…”

Matt Fried is the creator and host of Sleeping In with Matt Fried. For 2 years, he produced and hosted his live late night talk show, The Matt Fried Hour, which was performed at various venues in downtown New York City. In 2010, The Matt Fried Hour was named a Critic’s Pick of The North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival. As a host, Matt has worked the red carpet at The 2010 Emerging Comic of New York Awards, Sketchfest NYC 2010, and the world premiere of Monty Python: Almost The Complete Truth (The Lawyer’s Cut).

New episodes of Sleeping In With Matt Fried will air every Sunday from now until December, with future guests including Halley Feiffer ("Tigers Be Still" - off-Broadway); Neal Bledsoe (Gossip Girl, Law & Order: SVU); Baron Vaughn (Fairly Legal); Jena Friedman (The Refugee Girls Revue - NYC Fringe Festival & off-Broadway); and many others. Thoroughly enjoyed the show, but it's by no means life changing or sentimental. Wondered how long it would be before the shilling began.

It's by no means an opera however.

Thanks for joining....
