(Rob, spelling error: "pruchasing" should be "purchasing")

I always buy my cast albums before I see the show...frankly because I DON'T see the show. Very hard to get to NY.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Me too, Capn! It's my curse, but it also prevents me from buying tickets to a show I may absolutely hate. And you're right, it's hard for me to get to NY.

Recordings are a blessing.

I like to familiarize myself with the show im going to see. That's why i listen to the cast recording all the way through and read the synopsis (even with spoilers) before i go. I think i do the thing with the cast recording because then i can see which song i really like and that way it will be a better experience when i see it live. (hope that makes sense)

I buy them ahead of time too. I like to know whats going on at all times. I mean, especially when you sit in the cheap seats like I do, its very easy to miss subtle points of the plot. And if you're going to spend the money on a show, might as well know the plot inside and out. Just my humble opinion...
