I Lovett! I think she may surprise everyone.

Having seen the production in London, I think she might fit right into this very odd but exciting interpretation.
That said, I think it's a little premature to say anything until she's officially cast...

It would surprise people alot.
I think she definetly has the look Mrs. Lovett needs. And she can be warm and crazy at the same time, so she has that in her corner. Her voice is heaven, but she will definetly need to work to get rid of some or all of the rock flavor. I think I am most concerned about the acting...
Awesome, awesome idea. She'd be brilliant.
I think she would be great. An inspired choice. As for her acting, she was either nominated or won an Emmy for acting, so there shouldn't be a problem.
cyndi lauper, in one word... amazing. i have seen her in concert more times than i can recall. there is no better live performer in my opinion and her voice is still incredible.
she is a true performer who has tremendous talent! i would love to see her take this on!

She won an Emmy- 1995 (for Mad About You).
I think it'll be a wonderful move on the producers part besides her being wonderful in the part in it of it's self. She has proven her singing and acting talent and her personality will bring something new and different to the part of Ms. Lovett! I personally can't wait and will be first in line to see the show! The question is....who will be Sweeny Todd? hhmmmm

I did vote thumbs up as well. Cyndi has 112 votes for *yes* so far.
I agree that the subject matter is a lot to take--cannibal pies and all, but if Cyndi is in it, I'm going no matter what....
