I'm writing-in "Caroline, Or Change" (and "Taboo" should have made the top 5).
Hugh Jackman deserves it, and the Broadway was very much fun to watch... but as a Best Musical, I think the honor should go to Wicked. The show deserved to earn the Tony Award, and it didn't... and I think that it should at least earn the grammy.

baby kangaroo = joey. My u/n jmaclover --> Joey Mac Lover!
haha That's a strength.
kangaroo, are you the same one on the BFO message board?
I'm voting Q, with BFO as a second. I love Caroline though.
Assassins. EASILY. The score is leaps ahead of the others.

although i love ASSASSINS dearly, I really think it should be WICKED. and no, i am not a 12 year old psycho fan. And look at past winners. GYPSY, HAIRSPRAY, PRODUCERS, AIDA, LION KING. whoever the people are that vote for this thing have picked the obvious choice in the past. and WICKED would be the obvious choice. and AMEN kangaroo, WICKED deserved the tony and it didnt get it. heres to hoping that the recording gets the grammy.

ok without discussing the wicked score. The cast album is AWEFUL. There is no fighting this. I would say hands down the worst of the year. I happen to like moments of the score, and hate the recording. Im surprised even the Wicked fanatics like the recording.
Very surprised to see Caroline excluded.
Q gets my vote.
Type_A_Tiff yes I am from the ozalot board. Are you?
I know... I'm not very original, but if I make too many names... I forget them all.
And when I was talking about BFO, I didn't mean that it was a bad show. It was amazing, and it had the amazing energy and you came out smiling... and Hugh did deserve the Tony. But how many ppl would have watched TBFO if it wasn't Hugh as Peter Allen? Not as many...
Wicked is a very ensemble cast, and TBFO isn't, and I think that it just deserves it more than Avenue Q

AllisonR - the albums that have won in the past weren't always the "obvious choice," as you put it. I don't think GYPSY was an OBVIOUS choice. The reason those albums won is because they're of amazing quality and give an excellent representation of the shows. WICKED did not deserve the Tony - thank God the committe was smart enough for that - and they don't deserve the Grammy either. I said I think THE BOY FROM OZ will win, but I think ASSASSINS deserves to win - it's a fantastic recording. I'm not shocked about CAROLINE or TABOO not being nominated - I think CAROLINE is a decent recording, and TABOO's recording could have been much, much better - the orchestra was way overamplified and you couldn't hear the singers very clearly - you can tell they threw it together. Instead of WICKED's nomination, I would have liked to see FIDDLER be nominated.
The FIDDLER recording is astonishing!
You are dead on about it deserving a nomination.
It's the first time that score has really SOARED on CD. That's exactly what the GYPSY revival recording did too.
I'm sorry, and I might be under the wrong impression, but people who just keep saying "THE BOY FROM OZ because Hugh deserves it," or "WICKED because it was robbed" clearly don't understand what the Grammy is recognizing. GYPSY didn't win because of Bernadette's vocals and because it lost the award to NINE. It's not about the score. We know many of you are crazy and all WICKED OR DIE!, but actually think about what you're saying and WHY.
Okay... I said that Hugh Jackman was amazing in the BFO... but I said that Wicked deserves it the most because I love listening to the CD and I think that it deserves it the most. I just said it was robbed, becuase I think it was robbed.
sorry... Just expressing my opinions

I was really talking about people in general, not just you. But again, if you were voting for the grammy FOR REAL, the criteria isn't your favorite, or what you like listening to - it's overall album, why don't people get that?
Obviously Assassins. Is there anything better?

yes i do understand that it is for the entire album, it is just my opinion that the wicked recording is fantastic and deserves to win. just like you have the right to express your opinion, i have mine. what was GYPSY up against that year? how was it not the obvious choice? and im sorry but i dont think that the score doesnt matter. after all, it is whats being recorded in the first place.
you know all the avid WICKED haters are as annoying if not much much, more annoying than its fans...
