There's a new interview with Chris Columbus up on comingsoon.net. I think it's pretty interesting that they actually rehearsed "Contact." Enjoy!

Thanks for posting. Great article! I agree that "Contact" probably wouldn't have moved the film along at all, but is "Goodbye Love" seriously not in the movie? I had no idea. That is one of my favorite songs...oh well.

On this site there are long interviews with Rosario and Jesse.
Jesse actually mentions that had Dick Wolf not let him take the time off from L&O to film the movie, he would have had to quit the TV show because he had to make the movie.

NOOOOOOOO! Goodbye Love was cut? I was upset when "Contact" was cut, but now I'm just heartbroken. That's always been my absolute favorite songs- you're suppose to walk away from Rent feeling a little hurt, at least I always have; that's what makes it real.
Is it terrible that I'm actually starting to dread the release of this movie?

Not all of Goodbye Love is out, from what I gather - just the Mark/Roger fight part.

Really? I hope so... I just adore Mimi's line "He was the same way, alway saying run away, hit the road, don't commit, YOU'RE FULL OF SH*T!" It's just one of the best and most emotional lines in the entire show; I hope that that part of it wasn't cut.

no, goodbye love was cut after they say "I can't believe this is....goodbye..."

The whole big fight at the beginning is still there, just no fight between roger and mark and roger and mimi (the whole Goodbye Love part)

atleast thats the word on the street

it just doesn't make any sense to me, why they would cut mark and riger fightinf. why does roger leave? (i mean, i know why obviously, but is it justified in the movie?)

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned on the board. The TV Guide Channel has a behind the scenes look at Rent. There are clips and interviews with each of the cast members on set. They show these things over and over again usually, so try to catch it!
