Sorry this isnt really broadway but it isnt really off topic either haha so im putting it here.
I am going to NY at the end of April with two friends. One of them absolutely insists we see a ballet. I have never actually looked into ballets and dont really know where to start and what is going to be good (I'm sure they're all good though).
I came across this one online NYTB's Carnival of the Animals, anyone know anything about it? If not this one can anyone point me in the direction of another one??
Also do they have "student tickets" for ballets?
Thanks
I know nothing about the show, but yes, the New York City Ballet does have student tickets. I think they're only $12. And you can check online the week you want to go to see if they are available for what you want to see and when.
Edit-Here is the entire scoop, incase I left stuff out.

get student tickets ... and see anything that is done by the NYC Ballet .... you won't be disappointed ... it is a totally wonderful experience.
Thank you Marianne for the link, i will keep my eye on that for sure! 12$ is great! haha
And thanks Kooky, i will definitely keep my eyes open!
I second the praise for the NYC Ballet. It doesn't matter what you go see - you can count on it being beautifully staged and danced. In addition to our own ballet company, Washington DC gets a LOT of visiting ballet companies from all over the world performing at the Kennedy Center. I try to see as much as I can whenever they come - but the NYC Ballet company is one I can always count on to never disappoint.
If you're only going to NYCB once, try to attend a program that has a Balanchine piece AND a Jerome Robbins piece.
Yes, if you can see NYCB dance Balanchine a/o Robbins, GO. I'd seen some other companies and read a considerable amount of material oh his method and ideals, but they didn't make sense until I saw this company DANCE him.

Since you mentioned NYTB's Carnival of the Animals in your post and New York City Ballet in your heading, I just wanted to clarify that New York Theatre Ballet (NYTB) is not the same company as New York City Ballet (NYCB). City Ballet's Spring Season hasn't been announced yet so I think the website and video you're looking at is NYTB instead.
City Ballet's Spring Season should be announced in a week or so and begins on April 29. Since you like Broadway, you might enjoy "Who Cares?" which should be part of their spring schedule.
New York City Ballet has a wonderful YouTube channel, with lots of dance clips, interviews and fun pieces.

Here's a lovely piece about bringing Balanchine's dances back to St. Petersburg, where he was born:

And here's a nice video on Jerome Robbins's "Dances at a Gathering":

Thanks squeakers... i guess when i made the title it should have said ballets in new york city haha. I wasnt being particular to just the NYCB but rather any ballet in NY!
And thanks paljoey i will definitely check out those links.
