With the incredible production of LENNON I saw last night, I picked up a copy of 'New York Rock' at the soon-to-be-closed Footlight.
Anyone know anything about this musical? Or has anyone seen a production? I really love the score.

you mean yoko wrote something that you can listen to more than once?
I love ms. Ono as a performance artist, but generally speaking her music is best live.

Yeah, I hear ya.
I one time worked this event (at some venue in NYC) called "YOKO ONO: ARTIST OF THE CENTURY." It had all this art and crap she's designed over the years, and they were playing the most horrifying music I have ever heard in my life.
Towards the end of the night, they played this one tune OVER and OVER again. I guess the DJ thought this song was her big hit.
I don't know what the song was but the lyrics were something like: "I sat on my sunglasses. Run to your love. Run to your love. Run to your love. Run to your love. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run...to your love. Run to your love."
If they had actually had an oven in their kitchen, I would have stuck my head in it.

I don't know what it is, but I always enjoyed her work. While the music itself is not very good, the lyrics are stunningly poetic.
Her music is best live - anywhere I can't hear it. Especially if she's singing - if you can call what she does singing.
I saw NEW YORK ROCK--it was one of the most embarrasing pieces of ____ I have ever laughed my way through--made all the worse by Ms. Ono sitting in the audience and singing along to all of the songs.

Really, Effie? Hahaha!
I mean, the score isn't incredible or anything. I got it because I collect cast recordings and because I'm a huge John Lennon fan but there are a few numbers on there that I actually really like.
But from reading the synopsis, it seems that she was going for her artistic, poetic business and that's what failed.
*shrug* I was just curious about this.
didn't jason robert brown have something to do with it? i'm not sure exactly what he did, but he worked with yoko on it somehow.

I saw her walking in Central Park about three weeks ago.
I believe JRB arranged and/or orchestrated it.
