New candidate for Best Featured Actor Tony...

After seeing CRY BABY's invited dress rehearsal tonight, I think Christopher J. Hanke has a serious shot at the Best Featured Actor Tony. His line delivery was amazing, and his jokes were the best in the show.

I also think this will win Best Choreography. Rob Ashford is brilliant. The dancing in "A Little Upset" was jaw dropping.

The show is great - it's pure fluff, but so entertaining. I dare say better than HAIRSPRAY. Go see it!

I like Hanke, and haven't seen Cry Baby yet but let me just say...

Boyd Gaines
Danny Burstein
Matthew Morrison
Michael Cumpsty
Tony Roberts
Chris Fitzgerald
Robin DeJesus
Shuler Hensley
[title of show] on Broadway. it's time. believe.

I think Chris Fitz has the best chance of the Tony, and I love his performance dearly, but I seriously think Hanke has a shot. You have to see it. It was comedic gold. I was so surprised with how much I liked him.

I think Boyd Gaines should and will get the Tony. I'd bet money on it.

If not him, I'd go with Morrison or Burstein, who should both be nominated.

I find it hard to believe that any show besides In The Heights has any shot at winning Best Choreography. But I have yet to see Cry Baby so I have no opinion on it yet. But we will have to wait and see.

As much as i love him, Dejesus isnt gonna get a nomination. The role jsut isn't substanative enough. Shuler won't get a nom either. Hanke deserved a nomination for the much maligned In My Life, but there was no way they were going to give one for that show so hopefully he'll get his shot this year.

I've only listened to a live audio, but even without having seen him life, he sounds magnificent in an otherwise horrific show. I agree both him and Turner should have been nominated. How pleasant to hear he has a shot at a nod this year. Oh, and I really don't think Gaines is a lock at all.

Gaines is a lock for a nom, but not for the win.

And yeah, Hanke was amazing in IML (i saw it twice). And Jennifer Boevers understudy should have been playing the lead and should have also gotten a nom.

How would you say CRY-BABY compares to WEDDING SINGER? LEGALLY BLONDE? HAIRSPRAY? THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE?
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
