I don't blame those that felt disappointed. Especially embarrassing for Bette when both Patti LuPone and Christine Ebersole were running circles around her just a few blocks away. Bernadette Peters is waiting in the wings to impress, though.

 

* I wasn’t personally disappointed. Maybe the vocals but my expectations were managed early on.

I saw the show a few weeks ago and also thought Bette was just going through the motions - she does that better than most people I'm sure, but the performance felt pretty stale. Felt the same about DHP, but Gavin/Taylor/Kate were still killing it.

Don't agree, qolbinau---they give 3 entirely different styles of performances--they are not in competition as none of the 3 mentioned could do what the other does.

As for Bernadette, she has her critics but she sure as hell will work her txts off as Dolly [and I can't stand the woman].
