Hi, I'm on the verge of buying TDF tickets for N2N this weekend. Unfortunately, any plans would have to include my 11-year-old sister. Would N2N be appropriate for a mature 11-year-old girl? It would probably be easy to explain bipolar disorder to her, and she knows about sex and stuff (a lot would probably sail over her head), but is there anything too inappropriate?
While it really isn't a show for an 11 y/o, other than what you've already mentioned there is a fair amount of swearing, as well as some pot smoking. There really isn't a lot of sex. Spring Awakening was more lewd. It's really just very adult subject matter. The show will probably bore her, but then again, I don't know her personally.
I don't think it's much more objectionable than anything on TV. The pot smoking and the swearing are the only really objectionable material. But I saw people there with children who couldn't have been more than twelve. If you explain the material to her beforehand I think it should be okay. Also check and be sure your parents are comfortable with you bringing her to this. That should gauge your decision too. It is an intense show but if she's as sophisticated as you say it might appeal to her.

I don't think N2N is anymore inappropriate for an 11 than say, Chicago. Would you take her to see Chicago? It's certainly a more serious show than Chicago, but I think, it might help start a dialogue for someone of that age about the subject matter.
There are quite a few f-words, just to warn you...
Think of it as a PG-13 movie with more than the typically allotted f-bombs.
