lac77, total agreement on Barbara Cook, I've met her several times after concerts and benefits and she is the salt of the earth. A truly gracious, lovely person.
taguinagi, what's not to love?
How could I forget Will Chase? He's such a sweetheart, and he's really funny.

I love Will! He was so sweet at Lennon stagedoor. I asked to take a picture with him and Darin, he started talking to me in his John voice, it was really cute! Unfortunatly, he wouldn't stop talking, so his mouth was contorted in one of the pictures. :)
margeurite what's your signiature from? It amuses me even though I don't know who Percy Blakeney is.

Sadly, I've only ever been to New York once, so I have nothing to compare to, but...
Shoshana Bean was incredibly nice. She was the only cast member of Wicked who I saw out signing autographs. I was just going to have her sign my Playbill, but then my dad pushed me toward her and she was great and let me get a few pictures :) I thought she was a total sweetie.

All of my stage door experiences have been great. The one that sticks out the most is Avenue Q (the original cast). I remember poor Jennifer Barnhart - it seemed like everyone there wanted her autograph just so they could have the autograph, you know? When she got to me, I told her I thought she was really great and that her part was so underappreciated. She paused, mid-sign, looked up at me, and thanked me. She seemed really surprised and grateful...I don't think people acknowledge her for being outstanding as often as they should.

Oddexoticcreature, my sig shows a scene from the musical The Scarlet Pimpernel where Percy (the lead/The Pimpernel) mispronounces "Chauvelin" I just switched the meeting to Percy and Javert from Les Mis.

Nicest- Sutton Foster: she's my role model and I told her that and asked if I could hug her and she said "of course!" then said "the best of luck to you".
Katie Clarke: told my friend and me that we were "beautiful".
Mary Faber- I saw her on her 2nd night as Kate Monster and stayed to talk to me about being new for a few minutes.
Victoria Clark(she apologized for making us wait in the cold and asked me if I was an actress and where I was in school and wished me good luck) Megan Hilty, Jenn Gambatese, and the guy that plays the vice principal in Spelling Bee.
Not so nice- I've never really had a horrible stage door experience

Megan Hilty has definitely been the nicest star I have met at the stage door, and Stephanie J. Block was the worst..not really bad, just very rushed and not very friendly. She probably just had somewhere to go, but it didn't make for a great stage door experience.
I literally ran into Ben Vereen outside the Gershwin one morning, and I was a little illiterate then, and he looked at me like I was insane, but that probably had to do with my stammering "I'm really sorry....are you Ben Vereen????"

the cast of ASU was incredibly nice and appreciative of their fans. when i saw DRS a few days ago Norbert was the only one to come out while i was standing there for 50 minutes! He was very nice, but i wish i couldve met the rest of the cast. They probably had visitors inside or something.
david hyde pierce (is that spelled right?) stayed and took pictures and talked with everybody. he's really sweet!

Adrian Zmed is a sweetheart. He can walk up to a total stranger and start talking to him/her like an old friend.
Eartha Kitt is quite nice as well. I was a little intimidated to meet her, but she bounded out of the stage door in a T-shirt and jeans, and was laughing and hugging people as she signed autographs--I couldn't think what to say to her, though, how do you talk to Eartha Kitt?
John Tartaglia is perhaps one of the sweetest actor I have ever met. Also Jenn Barnhardt is amazingly gracious. I haven't met anyone that was bad, but I have worked with a few.

The nicest person I've ever met at a stage door is by far Kerry Butler. One of the sweetest people I've EVER met.
I can't say anyone has been extremely rude, or anything. I've had aa few funny stories but nothing mean. I think Darren Ritchie was teh funniest stage door experience I ever had, but he was quite nice, so it was all good.
That's too bad, Kate. They really are a wonderful bunch for coming out and signing. Backstage visitors will definitely hold them up so that was probably what happened. I hope you have a chance to go back and try again. They're a wonderful group and you'll like meeting them!
Nicest - Veanne Cox (she's SUCH a nice person!), and I'll be biased here but all my favorite LA stage performers - Kevin Earley, Julie Dixon Jackson, Bets Malone, Nick DeGruccio, Kristi Holden, Misty Cotton, Damon Kirsche,... the list goes on and on and on... they're just all so wonderful!
I've really never had a bad experience meeting anyone after a show.
agreed that Will Chase is very nice @ the stagedoor... also most of the current cast of rent (Mayumi Ando, Antonique Smith, etc)... didn't say a word to Frenchie though - thanks to this board!

Nicest: Norbert Leo Butz, Lauren Kennedy, Hank Azaria, Shoshana Bean, Sara Gettelfinger. Norbert is my favorite cause he took a picture with me even when the bodyguards told him he couldn't. He's a real sweetheart. But all the time best is Betsy Morgan (she's an up and comer) she stayed and talked with me forever and I still email her to this day!
I haven't had a bad stage door experience
I love broadway people!
Will Chase is a sweetheart.
The cast of Jersey Boys - I saw the show on Saturday, and there was a bit of a crowd at the stage door, and they all looked at everyone and kept walking.

NICE: Sutton Foster, Gavin Creel, Anthony Rapp, Jenna Leigh Green, Katie Adams, Kristin Chenoweth, Joel Grey, Chester Gregory, Barrett Foa, Stephanie D'Abruzzo, Jordan Gelber, Beth Leavel, Kendra Kassebaum, Cheyenne Jackson, Karmine Alers, Jenn Gambatese, Carole Shelley, Ben Vereen, Chris Seiber, Pretty much ALL of the Chicago Wicked Cast, John Dossett, Taye Diggs, Idina Menzel
MEAN: Harvey screamed at a girl at the Hairspray stage door for taking a picture. He yelled "I'm not in a cage! I'm not an animal!!" So, I didn't ask. haha
NOT NICE, NOT MEAN: Natalie Venetia Belcon, Matthew Morrison, Andy Senor, Richard Kind,

A lot of people say Michelle Federer is mean, but she was nice to us...just not fake.
I'm sad by all the great Jeff Goldblum stories! I saw him at the stage door when I saw "The Drowsy Chaperone" but I didn't say anything! damn!

Mary Tyler Moore came out the stage door at Sweet Sue (a play in 1987) and people cheered. She held up her hand and announced, "I don't DO autographs!" and walked to her limo... but not before the guy next to me yelled, "Well, we're all here to meet Lynn Redgrave, anyway!"
That's odd, SweeneyFan. I've STILL got my copy of the Sweet Sue Playbill signed by Mary. And it was Lynn Redgrave who ran out of the stage door and into the limo.
I guess we've learned something today.
Well I have never had any bad experiences, just amazing....
