Was anyone else there tonight?  My god she is an incredible talent. When will someone bring her to Broadway?

Biggest surprise was he heartbreaking rendition of "Will He Like Me?"  Insanely vulnerable and gut-wrenching--so many tears. She talked before hand about understudying Kelli O'Hara in the concert version. She said she wa terrified because no one can sing a soprano part like Kelli, so she decided not to try, and to sing it her own way. It was beautiful. I would love to see her as Amalia--she'd bring something totally different to the role. 

 

Other highlights were her Father's Day tribute to her dad (Daughters by John Mayer--not my favorite song originally but her rendition was way better), her final encore (When You Just Smile), her duet with Katie Boeck, her duet with Anthony Ramos, and of course her duet with Leslie Odom Jr (a song written by Boeck).  But my favorite song was one I didn't know that had a line something like "can a smart girl find a new dream?"  I know she said someone wrote it and asked her to sing it but I don't remember who, and I wish I had written it down. The lyrics really hit home for me. I hope she has been recorded singing it!!

 

I hope she has a bright and full career ahead of her and that I can see her again someday.
