Do you think a Broadway stage production of the film could work? Or would it just be too weird?

I've thought about this before, and I don't think it would work... I just can't picture how the costumes would look, but I could picture the set. Also, it's would probably be a seasonal musical. Which of course could work (e.i. A Christmas Story) but personally, I can't see the show being a huge success. Then again, I felt the same way about The Lion King, and look how that turned out.

Why not? It could work, depending on the choices they were to make. Definitely a great idea as I still love the film, many people still love the film, so I would be on board with it! A brilliant and enchanting score(one of my favorites to be honest), and the possibility for a very detailed and creative set and wardrobe. As long as it's not geared towards kids meant to be a cash grab(from my understanding the Disney/Disney-esque shows like Aladdin and Finding Neverland are not well loved throughout these boards), yes. In fact, now I really wish this would come true. NBC is much more deserving of a Broadway show than Shrek and Spongebob, in my opinion..
Macavity brings up a good point. The show might be better off as a seasonal show, starting around October and running until the end of December.
Also, this post reminded me that I had a dream about a Polar Express show on Broadway a little while back. Never gave it much thought as to whether or not it would actually work, but I think that's another seasonal show that could have been wonderful when the film was still somewhat new and appreciated.
I operate under the principal that literally ANY source material has the potential to be adapted into an artistically successful musical, as long as it has the right people behind it, and as long as those people make smart choices about the direction to take. And Nightmare Before Christmas is hardly the most far-fetched idea for a stage musical.

That's actually a really good way to look at things. Also, to the other poster, I can certainly agree that Nightmare Before Christmas is a more feasible idea than Spongebob or Shrek.
