i saw the revival when it first started last march 2003 and didnt love it. read the reviews and was surprised to see how much everyone liked it so much? whats so special about the show itself? i couldnt even figure out a real plot? the performances were great but the story was just plain bad....any thoughts?

I enjoy the music and find the story to be pretty special.
It is about learning to grow up and be your own person.

Try watching 8 1/2 the movie it is based on. Kopit deserves nobel prize for literature making that movie into something comprehensible.

Why the movie is a classic escapes me ?

i liked it. hell, the cast was amazing, i cant believe they managed to assemble such a group. and i think it was a huge accomplishment to incorporate such phsychological aspects of life onto the stage- not an easy thing to do.

Honestly, I was dissapointed with this show. I guess it's becuase I went in expecting it to be one hell of a show and I thought the performance from Bandaris and the show was quite weak. On the other hand, way to go Jane Krakowski! She is one of my absolute idols. That was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. She has so much sex appeal and grace in her one little finger it is increadible. What a woman. What a performance.

People were actually lost or confused by 'Nine?' You've got to be kidding me.

There's more to musical theater than linear storytelling. See Guido. See Guido sing. Sing Guido Sing.

Well, I've never really seen what the big deal is about NINE the Musical. It takes a magnificent complex funny and moving film and dumbs it down for a Broadway audience. The score is almost completely unmemorable.

The original production at least had Tommy Tune's direction and choreography to make up for the book and score's colossal shortcomings, to say nothing of an admirable cast, including Raul Julia and the magnificent Anita Morris. I also saw the revival with, alas, John Stamos who delivered the single worst performance I've ever seen on Broadway. Of course, he wasn't helped much by David Leveaux's ghastly production, which was a parade of shallow gimmicks.
