"Nine" Intermission

Had a question for anyone who saw the original Broadway production of Nine: the playbill shown on playbill vault says "There will be no intermission". However, in the final preview (if the date on my "non remixed, never released recording" is correct) there was an intermission and an "Entr'acte". The NYT review also notes that there was an intermission to mention that young Guido comes out and waits for the show to start again. So was an intermission added during previews? Or was it cut later to trim the running time?
