Noises Off#0

Posted: 8/11/06 at 11:57pm

Okay! I just found out that my high school will be performing Noises Off for our Fall drama.

Has anyone been in this production before?
Any advice you would like to share?

All is appreciated!

Thanks!

yeah, It's not a drama but an "americanized" old english farce. 3 acts of onstage, offstage, and on again of an out of town tryout of a new British play. Hysterical. Lots of physical comedy and great characters. Sardines play a major part.

The movie does NO justice to the play. The play is truly hysterical.

Go see Katie Finneran in PIG FARM. She won a Tony for her performance in NOISES OFF. Brilliant comedic actress.

This is an amazing play. It makes me so jealous that my school never did this. I love Noises Off, it is hilarious. I'm sure you and the entire cast will have a great time. There are so many fun parts in this show. I think each character would be a great one to play.

Fabulous play. One of the funniest I've seen. We did it at LVA a million years ago and it rocked.

I have seen three productions of it plus the movie.

this is the order of what I believed was the best version to the worst:
1. my high school
2. the movie
3. Broadway revival (with Petter Gallagher who couldn't put on a British accent to save his life)
4. Papermill Playhouse

it is a fantastic show. you will have so much fun with it. I cannot say what i think is the best character. Female would probably be Brooke. and male; Freddrick.

It is farce. Like most farce it depends on confusion, broad comedy ie pratfalls and MOST IMPORTANT split second timing, esp of exits and entrances and hits and misses.
Katie Finneran was a hoot! She said latter she based a lot of the"look" on the Sid Dithers character from SCTV.
