Non-Adaptation Original Broadway Musicals in the Works
#1Non-Adaptation Original Broadway Musicals in the Works
Posted: 1/17/07 at 7:27amWith all of the recent film to stage adaptation/jukebox insanity, the blessed success of the original musical THE DROWSY CHAPERONE and with CURTAINS coming in in a few months, is there any word on other original musicals in the works that could head to Broadway within the next few seasons?

Dont completely dismiss adaptation: after all, all of R&H's major works were taken from something else, whether a play or a short story or a novel. Were they writing today, they probably would look to films as possible source material... but in their hands, no doubt it would be something far better than what we have around right now.

I'm in LA this week and seeing 13 tonight. Looking forward to seeing it.
As for original musicals, someone is always developing them. It's difficult to get producers interested in PRODUCING them.
