I meant to list Camino Real, Eric, which I know you like. I certainly wouldn't include The Glass Menagerie on such a list. Poetic realism might be a good term for it.
Caryl Churchill is another good writer for the list, I agree.

CLOUD 9 is the first one that came to mind, such brilliance.
ANGELS IN AMERICA can fit this category, part of Kushner's brilliance comes from incorporating such poignant realism with the fantastic aspects to the point that sometimes I forget it's a non-realistic play.

Yeah thinking about Cloud Nine made me look and find my script--I wish the Tune version had been filmed.
