My friend and I are planning to do a Broadway duet for a concert that is coming up.
I'm trying to find a duet that isn't all lovey-dovey. I would personally LOOOOVE to do 'All I Ask Of You', but he doesn't want to do a really love-y song because of our *cough* past relations.
I thought of Suddenly Seymour, I figured it wasn't as serious as AIAOY, or some of the other songs.
But could you guys help me out?
Please and thank you.

Another Day- RENT
Many of the songs from the last five years.
just a couple off the top of my head
There's a song from Fame and I don't know it. One of my friends did it and I know part of is "....My arms and to ring out the new! I have found him..." You could use It Takes Two from Into the Woods.

I Wish I Were In Love Again
Or A Little Fall fo Rain from Les Mis.
There's only one duet from L5Y and it's when they get married, so it is lovey. Look at I LOVE YOU YOUR PERFECT NOW CHANGE, there's "Tear Jerk", and "Stud and Babe", and there might be a few more. There's stuff from JOHN & JEN. You can find the sheet music for "A Little Priest" it's funny, but a lil to long and hard. That's all I can think of.

Yay thank you guys so much! It's helped me a lot.
Im sorry this probably wont help you for some time, but "The SOng That Goes Like THis" in Spamalot has a great melody AND is hillarious.
If you want to do something comedic, Tango: Maureen could work.
Two uncommon choices:
"Flattery" from WHOOP-UP
"I Wouldn't Bet One Penny" from DONNYBROOK!

How about 'Anything You Can Do' from Annie Get Your Gun?

I would say "Inside Your Heart" from Bat Boy, but the music isn't published, so it's probably insanely hard to find.

I believe that's "Ten Minutes Ago" from R&H's Cinderella...
I would go with "Anything You Can Do" or "Together Wherever We Go."
I agree with "Anything You Can Do."
you could do As Long as your mine from WICKED
or Think Of Me from phantom of the opera (Even though the boys part isn't that big.
long as I'm here with you from Throughly Modern Millie
Ah!Sweet mystery of Life/I'm falling in Love with somone from throughly
I'd go with ANYTHING YOU CAN DO, or maybe you could re-work YOU'RE NOTHING WITHOUT ME, from City Of Angels - you know, adapt the music slightly so it's in a good key for you. The lyrics'd probably work ok as they are.

This should be perfect, considering your *cough* past relations.
It's not a "show tune" but it's Barry Manilow, so that's close enough! It's called "The Last Duet", a parody of sappy pop duets, on his "Barry" album. He performed it with Lily Tomlin.
Lily:
You creep
Into my heart
And make my heart burn
Barry:
You Sneak
Into my mind
And make my head ache
Both:
Theare are things I long to tell you
Lily:
You're much too blonde
Barry:
You snore
Both:
Look
It's time to face the music
Barry:
Bye Bye!
Lily:
Don't slam the door
Lily:
And I don't want
Barry:
I don't want
Lily:
I don't want
Barry:
I don't want
Both:
No, I don't want your flowers anymore
This is trhe last duet
Last chance you're gonna get
No more ha harmony
For you and me
This is the final song
And when the music's through
This is the last duet
I'll ever do with you
Barry:
You're not the one that I want
Ooh ooh ooh
Tood-le-oo (Honey)
Lily:
Don't go breakin' my back
Don't call me
(As Ernestine) I'll call you (Snort)
Both:
Back together
Reunited
Should feel so good
They say
So I hope there's no hard feelings
Barry:
Don't go 'way mad
Lily:
Just go 'way
Both:
'Cause
Enough
Is enough
Is enough
Is enough
Too much too little too late
Lily:
Tonight
Barry:
Tonight
Both:
With you I'm bored again!
This is the last duet
Last chance you're gonna get
No more ha harmony
For you and me
This is the final song
and when the music's through
This is the last duet
I'll ever do with you
Both:
This is teh last duet
Last chance you're gonna get
No more ha harmony
For you and me
This is the final song
And when the music's through
This is the last duet
I'll ever do
I'll ever do
I'll never never never never never do
With you
Enjoy!
so funny - I actually have a list going of some non-lovey dovey male/female duets for something I'm working on with a friend. Here are some of my faves:
Two of A Kind from Lippa Wild Party. Yeah, they're a couple, but the song can be done hella-platonically, in fact I first saw a gay friend and his fag-hag (sorry if I offend, but I am one, so I'm allowed, lol) perform it and it was so perfect for their friendship. It's really really cute and very character for the female.
Goodbye Until Tomorrow/I Could Never Rescue You from L5Y. You dont' really sing a lot together - it's the closing song and you're not singing TO each other - but it's still beautiful and I love it.
People Like Us from LaChuisa Wild Party. More serious and intense, borderline romantic, but can still be done as just two people singing it.
Two Lost Souls from Damn Yankees. This one's fun and unromantic.
Stud/Babe from I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change - amazing! and so funny!
Old Friends from Merrily We Roll Along. Written as a trio but can easily be tweaked and completely platonic.
Unworthy of Your Love from Assassins. Romantic in nature but not sung to each other, sung about others...one of my faves.
Eddie and Mae from LaChuisa Wild Party - same couple as Two of A Kind, different version, lol. Still kinda fun, definitely not romantic...give it a listen.
An Old Fashioned Wedding from Annie Get Your Gun is fun too and no worry about romantic stuff there.
I have a ton more but I'll stop there. Hope this helps! Feel free to PM me if you need more ideas and/or to let me know how it goes, what you pick, etc.

"Sue Me" from Guys and Dolls is quite adorable. The non-romantic, comic leads (Nathan & Adelaide) sing it.
