Thinking about getting tix thru TDF for "Normal Heart". Heard nothing but amazing reviews. Anyone? Must see?

Also, can I expect to see Raul at a Saturday Matinee?

If you haven't already, go read this... it's my review from the day after I saw it..... that way I won't have to type out everything again. I just bought a copy of the play and I've read it through several times already. It's incredible.

Let us know what you think... I really need to get down there and see it again. lol, I remember saying to Wicked_Elphie that now that they had extended we could go see it again, and how great that was. Raul looked at us with an expression that said "And *why* would you want to do this *twice*?" It's so intense, but so beautiful.

Its on TDF for Sun, July 4th. Worried about missing Raul. What do you guys think? Still good chance of seeing him?

Hmmm.... actually I bought my tickets and then the week of I had a bit of a scare. When I found out that the Taboo CD signing was the same day, I freaked out and was really afraid that there would be a conflict and that Raul would be out of the play that night, but several people (*looks around* Ruffian, where are youuuuuuuu?) on here assured me that Raul is *very* professional and wouldn't miss a show unless he absolutely had to.

Yeah, The Normal Heart is absolutely devestating. The most powerful experience I've ever had in a theatre - very emotionally-charged. I left the theatre trembling.

Okay, took the plunge !! Thanks TDF ! $20 tix for July 4th. Checked Telecharge, and there is only a matinee show that Sunday, so probably a good chance to see Raul. Keeping fingers crossed, and we cant wait to see this !!! Thanks again to all that posted !

Yeah, TDF rocks !!! Just saw "Jumpers" from TDF, and got tix for "After the Fall" , Caroline or Change", "Bombay Dreams", "Frozen", and "Normal Heart" all thru TDF.

Most of the time, the seats are excellent. For the price, ALL of the time the seats are excellent. EMCEE, not at all prying, but I think you mentioned that you were under 20. If you are a student, you can join. www.tdf.org

Best discount that I saw for "Heart" was $37.50, but you add the telecharge fees to that, and they still get to be almost $50 each. TDF charges a $3.00 order fee only. Very cool !

Not a problem. Flattered that you remembered, actually. I'm 18. I used the $37.50 discount last time, but I need to save money for college as much as possible. I'm definitely going to check out TDF. I've been meaning to for a while.

Yeah.. I hear that !! I just finished paying off my 10-year loan last year that my mom took out for me for college (without my knowledge !! LOL)

Thank you... I'll do it first thing tomorrow morning. College in NYC is going to be expensive, so this will definitely be a help with my theater addiction.

The first time I saw it, it was a Saturday matinee and he was in and gave a brilliant performance (how they do that show twice in one day is beyond me).

Well,
I have been saying this often but I found Larry Kramer's play to be a must see. It is heart wrenching but moving. I went twice and plan on seeing it again.
Raul Esparza is such a talented actor. I have become a huge fan of Raul.
Bring kleenex. I don't remember crying so much at the theater.

robyn, I totally agree. I went to see it for the third time yesterday at the 2pm matinee and he was brilliant. It was the best performance I've seen from him in the show. I saw it the week after it opened in April, the first week of May, and then again yesterday. He keeps getting better and better. But his performance is so heartfelt and emotional I have absolutely no idea how he can do that twice a day!

It's truly a privilige to work on this amazing show. Spread the word, send your friends! And for the record, all actors in the cast (including Raul) will be performing at every scheduled performance unless there is a previously announced absence (there are none for Normal Heart at this time) or an emergency which can not be foreseen or prevented. Hope to see you at the theater!

I completely agree with everyone's comments. I have never been so moved in a theater as I have with the Normal Heart. I was literally sobbing by the middle of Act II. Raul Esparza is truly a wonder to see.

ABSOLUTELY. Go see it! Just make sure you sit on the right side or the center...you miss a lot of Raul's face on the left, and you can't afford that with this performance.

Before Joanna Gleason left, there were no understudies for this show. If that's still true you'll either see Raul or you won't see the show. As good as the play is, and as the rest of the cast is, it is his performance that is really the highlight of the evening. I wouldn't want to see it without him either. And at an Actors' Fund preformance I think all the cast would be in that night.
