I have an audition for the UNC School of the Arts 12th Grade Program in a little less than a week. I'm performing a monologue from As You Like It, one from Assassins, and the title song from No, No, Nanette. I'm aware that the first two are probably gravely overdone, but they're both what I have (and it's probably less of a big deal since it's a high school.)
I cut off the slate since it had my full name in it, and the "Thank you," etc. is cut off at the end, but any comments on my overall audition would be very helpful.
Thank you!

First up - I haven't looked at the youtube because video auditions are not the best ways to judge what a person will do in the space and because too many opinions will ruin your audition.
Like all auditions, know what your character needs, relax and trust you've done enough work. Know why you want to join the program (really important!) - which is a great program. I know it very well.
Easy for me to say - just go for it, don't "try too hard." Know why you want to do a year there. It won't train you to be a professional actor (the college BFA is the course for that) - though a few have been very successful straight out of High School. Be clear on what you want/need to learn. Enjoy the audition, have fun. All the very best - "and above all, to thine own self be true..."
