this is my favorite song and i havent seen the show the wedding singer... could someone explain the song and how it fits with the show? I know it has to do with robbie helping julia with her wedding liek help plannign it, but i dont get the whoel purse thing and stuff...

Robbie and Julia are looking at towels and there is a sassy black lady who makes her fiance hold her purse...so Julia mocks them to get Robbie to hold her purse.

The two are in the mall registering for gifts and Robbie realizes he's crushin'.

Hehe, its referring to things that are usually emblematic of love (Stars, birds singing, the moon) and saying their relationship however, is "not that kind of thing" because they are just friends...

It's just saying that what they are feeling towards each other is not love. That the stars have been misaligned, because it's not that kind of thing.

(The store owner (Adinah Alexander) thinks they are together.)

Of course, there are times when his eyes meet hers and linger there maybe a bit too long...

Although, that could just be from the terrible bee attacks they've suffered...

This is one of my favorite songs too. There's a whole bunch of introduction dialogue with them arguing over some china patterns (which promts the shopkeeper's dialogue at the beginning of the recording) that I wish was on the CD, because it's hilarious.

Heh. I love the dialogue over the China patterns. I love that song - its really wonderful to watch live, because Stephen and Laura (and Stephen and Tina Maddigan) both have such a silly, fun time performing it.

I agree, it's one of the my favorite songs as well as one of my favorite scenes in the show. I think the idea was to capture the core of 80's pop culture (hence the mall and aerobic dancers). I really like the edit of the song on the album.
