Smith did have a lot of setpieces that would come in though (the subway, etc)

There are a lot of great character shots on the ibdb listing for the original production as well, I won't bother linking.
Beowulf Boritt is an excellent designer, and I really hope he uses the huge stage to his advantage... I would hate to see a skimpy set in that huge theatre.
There is nothing painterly or atmospheric about Beowolf's design (in those pics), but I do see the grid thing you speak of. It is promising that the cast and orchestra are on the larger size.
"What's Lea Delaria doing right now? I'd pay good money to see her slaying I Can Cook, Too again."
I don't know when it shoots, but she has Season 3 of ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK.
Megan Fairchild, Alysha Umphress and Elizabeth Stanley are the latest additions to the cast of the classic musical. Umphress will play Hildy, and Stanley will play Claire, both reprising their performances from last summer’s acclaimed Barrington Stage production. Fairchild will play the role of Ivy Smith.
Additional Casting Announced for Broadway Revival of On the Town
So happy that Alysha and Elizabeth will be returning. They were both wonderful.
Megan Fairchild!!! She's one of my favorite NYCB principals!
Megan Fairchild is a beautiful dancer! I loved seeing her as the sugarplum fairy. I had no idea she also acts. I'm very excited to see her in this.
I wonder if Tiler Peck had been seen for Ivy.
Holy crap! I didn't put that together when I read the article! She will be thrilling in those ballets!
Here she is with her husband, Andrew Veyette:
"I wonder if Tiler Peck had been seen for Ivy."
Isn't she attached to AN AMERICAN IN PARIS? Or am I making that up?

Your post jogged my memory. Tiler Peck has been cast in Little Dancer at the Kennedy Center.
