re: THANK THEATRE ITS FRIDAY!

Afternoon everyone :)

hows everyones day going? Probably better than mine, but hopefully things will pick up, im sure they will...

so lets get some questions going guys, what song on a cast recording/studio recording etc always makes you tear up a bit?

re: THANK THEATRE ITS FRIDAY!

My day suddenly got a lot worse. There's signal failure at Northwood, so it won't be a simple tube journey into London tonight. Looks like I'm going to have to get an above-ground train; which actually makes it a little easier to be dropped off, but does cost money, which I'd like to conserve as much as possible. At least then I'll still have more on my Oyster card to be used another time, but it's still very annoying!

Although this afternoon, I managed to get the new Young Bond book for 43p (thanks to my loyalty card!), and I did a bit of wedding singing (church choir, nothing like the show :P), so that was nice. The wedding wasn't anything especially revolutionary contentwise, but the bridesmaids were wearing these simply amazing BRIGHT pink dresses! I've never seen any bridesmaids dresses so vibrant before! I was WELL impressed! People usually stick to darks or pastels, which are definitely not my favourite colour groups. XD

Anyway! As for the question, I'm a TERRIBLE crier. I cry at everything! I cry at sad things. I cry at happy things. I cry when an entire company is singing in unison. I cry when an entire company is singing in harmony. I cry at KEY CHANGES for God's sake! I think the two songs at the moment that are 100% guaranteed to make me start leaking from the eyes are 'A Way Back To Then' from '[title of show]' (and it's the key change that does it XP) and 'The Old Red Hills Of Home' from 'Parade' (I think there's a key change here as well, but it's mostly the "entire company" effect).

Good old British transport! gotta love it!

The Donmar Parade Recording has me in tears a lot! Especially the final Old Red Hills when the company sing in perfect harmony acapella! i just melt.
Also I wish i may and Look At Me (key change) from Witches of Eastwick usually gets me.
Billy Elliot is a weeper!
Cabaret from Cabaret as me tearing up..

I cry too often! Ahh im glad im not the only one whos day suddenly just switched and got bad...not that im glad your day isnt very good..but..well you know what i mean!

re: THANK THEATRE ITS FRIDAY!

For the first Saturday in ages I'm not seeing a show, lol, I saw one on Thursday & one on Friday though =)

re: THANK THEATRE ITS FRIDAY!

It's a highly meta-theatrical play about family, race, and healthcare. I liked the play and the setup but hated most of the characters: quite rare, usually the latter makes me despise the former, but instead I just sat there hoping they'd go all McDonagh on a couple of them.

re: THANK THEATRE ITS FRIDAY!

Sam: Some of us go to waaaaaaay too much theatre. I may have a thesis to write, but I'm planning to hit 4 shows next week...

Guess I just need to force myself to write during the day.

re: THANK THEATRE ITS FRIDAY!

You can NEVER see too many shows! Believe me! In 20yrs time you will regret maybe not seeing the new 'Piaf' BIG MISTAKE!
A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!'' Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'

re: THANK THEATRE ITS FRIDAY!

Anything that doesn't have you working evenings, and pays money. If you can work in a theatre, you can get freebies. :3

I HIGHLY recommend the Factory Hamlet if anyone is interested. It's insane but in SUCH a good way. I think the bestest part was when some idiot let the gravedigger get hold of a tin of beans and a bag of flour. re: THANK THEATRE ITS FRIDAY! But that probably won't happen EVER again, because of the nature of the beast! I have GOT to go back!

And I totally regret 'Absurd Person Singular'. The ONLY thing I got from that show was a new ability to regret seeing shows. XP I used to regret nothing, then I saw THAT. XP

re: THANK THEATRE ITS FRIDAY!

After you mentioned you were going Weez, i read up about it and it sounds like such a laugh! I really am contemplating going...?

re: THANK THEATRE ITS FRIDAY!

Do it! It's a living, breathing, BRILLIANT example of why I love theatre so much; that atmosphere of knowing that anything can happen, and no matter how well you and the cast know a piece, it can never possibly be the same two nights running. It's absolutely stupendous!

The casting all went a bit odd; there was a bit of misreportage on the part of the press, and the "exceptionally special guest!" turned out to be a tipsy Josh Hartnett (yawn) playing the Captain (in a bit that I'm pretty sure is usually cut), but really? They're right. They're absolutely right. You don't need a name to make an aces bit of theatre. I'm currently seriously considering going to the one next weekend as well, but they're doing productions most of this week, I think as part of the whole one year anniversary thing. :3

(In fact, they're just about to kick off this afternoon's performance on Regent Street. I wish it weren't my sister's birthday; I'd've hung around for it otherwise. re: THANK THEATRE ITS FRIDAY! )

re: THANK THEATRE ITS FRIDAY!

How's everyone's week been? I'm really ill and had to turn down a free ticket to Eurobeat because of it! I HATE turning down tickets!
Here's hoping I'm miraculously better for ALWs birthday in the park on Sunday!

re: THANK THEATRE ITS FRIDAY!

Hope you feel better soon! Being ill sucks especially when it means missing shows! re: THANK THEATRE ITS FRIDAY!
Well, as of last night I'm finally back online after a week and a half of no computer - my laptop monitor broke grrr! Ordered a new laptop since I was already contemplating it before that happened, and it's still not arrived as it got stolen from the courier van and the replacement is taking ages. I've been surviving on Star Trek reruns and my LOTR CD!

re: THANK THEATRE ITS FRIDAY!

Awh welcome back Acaila :)! It doesnt seem like friday, this week has gone mega quick! I had 4 free periods today so i decided to read Spring Awakening, i quite enjoyed it, although it really wasnt as emotionally charged as i thought it might be! although it wasnt the original play it was the 1995 RSC version, so i might read the original..?
Rapberry, if your too ill, i wouldnt mind taking your place on sunday re: THANK THEATRE ITS FRIDAY! lol

re: THANK THEATRE ITS FRIDAY!

Thanks Sam :) Yes, this week does seem to have flown by! I start back at uni in 6 days :O Eek! Better do some quick work on my dissertation this week to pretend I've actually done something with my holiday.
I quite liked Spring Awakening...it might have been that version I read, not sure. I don't tend to like much from that era so it got a thumbs up from me re: THANK THEATRE ITS FRIDAY! It was just before I heard about the musical....cue much groaning!

re: THANK THEATRE ITS FRIDAY!

Ahah i ordered the soundtrack today, ive got my tickets for Spring Awakening on the Friday preview, £10!! i thought it was worth it. Yeh i was pretty impressed, i guess i just had high expectations for it, obviously its different reading a play to seeing it. ive been so busy this past week with stuff, as of today, i have to learn Paul's monologue ala A Chorus Line, Heaven on their Minds, a duologue from A Taste of Honey, read Twelfth Night and Metamorphisis! my sunday is looking busy!
