I have been thinking and would like to see Chess as I never saw the original, I am unfamiliar how this should be cast, as I have never seen it prehaps you can help me out on this?
I did buy the CD and asked you what the best version is and you overwhelmingly said the Danish production, in the end I opted for the original London one, because I wanted to hear the original, I have been listing to it on my Ipod and loving it, now thinking of getting the Danish version.
After having a successful limited engagement at the Haymarket, what is the chance of it then going to Broadway again?
evening Scripps ive been waiting for someone to have an off topic conversation with all night, after all this is the friday night baord and so we're allowed to!!
Forget the film - stick to the stage version. Both revival and OBC cast recordings are good but the OBC has the edge.
Oh Sorry! We're talking Dreamgirls!! The above comment was about A Chorus Line! I haven't seen the film either and didn't buy the cast recording for years. When I finally did and listened to it, I wondered why I'd left it so long.
Oh god the Chorus Line film really is nothing spectacular!! I have both...and prefer the Revival! Natalie Cortez really is a great Diana, i could listen to her all day!
Hmm maybe ill have a look on Dress Circle in a bit, if its that good :P so is it the weekend off for Scripps?
Awh that sounds like a cool weekend :) i did try to get tickets for They're Playing our song, but with being back at 6th form i dont have my weekdays free for matinees anymore
im off to see Hairspray again thursday after next though, and then Twelfth Night before christmas which will be my first time watching Shakespeare, as opposed to performing it! I may come back a converted man, who knows!
I'm doing the Factory's 'Hamlet' tomorrow. I dread to think how much sleep I'll need after a 'Hamlet' that STARTS at midnight, but I look forward to it nonetheless. Am ever so nosy as to who the "extra special guest" is going to be. ^_^
exedore: I don't know WHAT you mean! Although I do find it pretty funny that the pair of us use mech anime-related names to scurry about the internet on. XD
hows eveyrones working week been? much happened...any major big problems? im just being nosey and generally picking mysel up out of this state of boredom i seemed to have fallen into!
I can't say I've been out of the house much. Play rehearsals two nights this week. I hate my character, I have some rotten lines, but it'll all be over in a couple of months. I suppose the really exciting thing is I've started doing a BA in Theatre Studies. For one module, I need to be attached to a professional theatre company; I'm meant to come up with a shortlist of two, and my tutor will endeavour to attach me to one of them. First on my shortlist is an easy-peasy no-brainer, but I'm having issues deciding between two others for my back-up choice. Why can't we be encouraged to shortlist three, dammit?!
Ooh i started my A Levels yesterday! Theatre Studies, Performing Arts, Philosophy, Psychology! Im really loving all of them..and kinda have that lease of life back that i used to have when school was good..! In theatre studies we're doing duologues, and im playing Boy in Taste of Hoeny, Boy is a black man with a mancurian acent, all which arent particularly brilliant chracteristics when im a white guy from the south east! oh well i shall overcome these issues! Where are you doing your BA Weez?
Weez: Indeed, though it's been so long since I've watched G-Gundam that I had to google yours to remember the source. I also need to remind you that Expo is coming as is the October London Anime Club meeting. =P
As for my week...I had 15 min. of tutorial on Monday, saw two shows this week (even get paid for my writeup on one of 'em!), and otherwise piddled about on my thesis...I think the third part of it's ready for editing now but I need to finish initial writing on the first two. The whole thing is like a massive jigsaw puzzle so it's all kind of crazy work. As soon as that's done I need to job hunt so I can move to a cheaper neighbourhood and get my visa renewed...
So overall an alright week for everyone :) anyways good morning everyone, another successful friday night thread that will become a saturday/sunday thread no doubt! Ive got work in the morning so im gonna have to love ya and leave ya im affraid!
I simply cant wait to hear what Scripps thought of 'They're Playing Our Song'
The movie of 'A Chorus Line' should be recalled and all copies on DVD or whatever, burned in a huge cauldron (we can borrow one from SADM2)- it really is the perfect example of how not to put a stage musical on the screen!
A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!''
Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'
I think I'm in the minority in actually loving the Chorus Line movie! Its a childhood classic for me - one of those you watched everyday for a year! I know its not a patch on the stage show, and I understand everyone's gripes with it, but i can't help but love it!
For the revival fantasy, can I put in a request for Into The Woods?!!!!
Baker - Clive Rowe
Baker's Wife - Anna Francolini (they are fab, and have a great working relationship)
Jack - Stuart Matthew Price (that kid is outstanding)
Cinderella - aimee atkinson, maybe
Witch - Sharon D Clarke? i'd love to see that!
Little Red - either me, cos I want that role! or Sheridan Smith ( playing it again after 10 years or so would be great to see)
Prince/Wolf (and yes, it has to be that!!!!)- Matt Rawle
