OSLO (PREVIEWS)

As always, early reports will be appreciated

"Everyone remembers the stunning and iconic moment in 1993 when Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat shook hands on the South Lawn of the White House. They were “two old warriors who personified the conflict between their peoples,” wrote The New York Times, “sealing the first agreement between [them] to end their conflict and share the holy land they both call home.” But among the many questions that laced the hope of the moment was that of Norway’s role. How did such high-profile negotiations come to be held secretly in a castle in the middle of a forest outside Oslo?"

be advised: this is a long one 2:55 with two intermissions There isn't anything wrong with a long play (provided it is well written) but I just like to know what I'm in for so I can plan accordingly

Bump....

I saw it in previews and Michael Aronov was amazing. It is rare to see performances of that caliber. He was extremely charismatic and in the moment. Anthony Azizi was also very good. I felt disadvantaged because I did not know much about the negotiations so I had to listen carefully. The show was in pretty good shape but I suspect it will be more fluid by the time it opens. I did not connect to it emotionally but for its length I thought it moved along fairly well. Some of the scene work needs a little more attention and I felt the third act could have used a little more urgency but Bart's staging is strong and the multi media usage is effective. But if you are into fine actors it is worth seeing it for Michael.

Have they been offering rush for this? Anyone try?

I saw the second preview, and while the show definitely needed some tightening & trimming, I thought the show was pretty fantastic. I was only 8 when the actual events took place, so it was something that I was not very familiar with and it took me a few minutes to get on board.

I liked it a lot, and am surprised to not hear more about it on the boards.

I saw it last night. Really interesting play and such surprisingly material. From what I've heard, it seems to have been trimmed and tightened since the first few previews. It runs three hours - with intervals - and I was fully engaged throughout.

Great writing by JT Rogers and great performances from a wonderful cast. A really worthwhile evening of thought provoking theatre, imo.

I literally ran into Aronov on the street and he is even more handsome in person.I wish I could have seen him in Streetcar.
